The sun had barely risen when I woke up to the soft knock on my door.
I groaned, pulling the covers over my head, wishing I could stay in bed just a little longer.
But the knock persisted, gentle but insistent. With a sigh, I threw off the covers and stumbled to the door.
"Coming," I muttered, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. I opened the door to find Eli standing there, his expression neutral, though his gaze lingered for just a moment.
"Good morning, my lord," he said, his voice steady. "The Duke has requested your presence for breakfast. He wishes to discuss your new schedule."
I nodded, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep. "Give me a moment to get ready," I said, stepping back to let him in.
Eli entered the room, his movements efficient as he laid out my clothes for the day.
