Behind him, Dante, Mateo, and Nicolas followed closely without speaking at first.
The atmosphere around Santiago warned against unnecessary conversation.
He moved across the paved path leading away from the mansion and toward the open fields beyond, where the private landing strip stretched beneath the darkening sky. Security guards were already moving around the lower grounds preparing for departure.
Nicolas finally broke the silence.
"You're going to the capital?"
There was faint concern beneath the question.
Because Santiago Torres Mendoza rarely moved personally unless the matter was important enough to become dangerous.
Santiago did not look back.
"Yes."
The single answer settled heavily between them.
None of the men questioned him further after that.
Near the edge of the pavement, a small transport cart was already waiting. Santiago stepped inside first while still holding Daniella securely, and the others boarded immediately after him.
