The noise drew the attention of one of the officers stationed at the end of the corridor. He walked over unhurriedly, his expression remaining completely indifferent despite her frantic outburst. He had spent years working in the detention wing and had seen countless suspects proclaim their innocence the moment the cell door closed behind them.
He stopped a few feet away from the bars and looked at her calmly.
"You should save your strength, Mrs. Navarro," he said flatly. "You're no longer at the academy. You're in police custody."
Elena gripped the bars even tighter, her knuckles turning white.
"I said I didn't do anything!" she shouted again. "This is all because of that crazy woman! She assaulted me in front of everyone! She's the criminal, not me!"
The officer didn't even bother arguing with her.
"The evidence says otherwise."
His words caused Elena's face to stiffen.
