Every birthday had never truly felt like a birthday.
It had always been marked as the anniversary of the day her mother supposedly died bringing her into the world.

Because how could someone celebrate the day another person had lost their life because of them?
Now, for the first time, she was forced to wonder whether that burden had been built upon a lie.
The tears slipped silently down her cheeks.
Seeing them, Camilla immediately slowed the sports car before pulling safely onto the side of the road.
She switched on the hazard lights and turned toward Daniella, her expression filled with concern.
"I'm sorry."
She reached into the center console, retrieved a packet of tissues, and gently wiped away the tears from Daniella's face.
"I didn't mean to hurt you."
Daniella shook her head gently.
"No."
She accepted the tissue and dabbed at her eyes herself.
"I know you weren't trying to hurt me."
