A small smile touched Camilla's lips.
Dr. Romano watched the interaction for a moment before speaking.
"You can stay for a little while, but remember what I said earlier. Camilla needs rest. She's awake now, but that doesn't mean she's recovered enough for a long conversation."
Everyone immediately nodded.
"Of course, Doctor," Valeria replied.
Dr. Romano looked toward Camilla. "And you don't need to entertain anyone. If you become tired, close your eyes and rest."
Camilla nodded.
The families moved closer to the bed, careful to keep their voices low as they began talking with her. There was no need for anyone to discuss the investigation or the shooting yet.
For this moment, they simply wanted to see her awake, hear her voice and reassure themselves that she was truly going to be all right.
After the long and terrifying night they had endured, having Camilla awake in front of them felt like a blessing none of them wanted to take for granted.
