Asuka walked over and sat across from the figure. He picked up the teacup in front of him and examined it quietly. For a moment, neither of them spoke, as if they were simply two guests appreciating tea.
After a short while, the figure opposite him spoke first.
"Asuka-kun, I've heard much about you."
Asuka set down his teacup with a faint smile.
"Oh? Those are probably just empty rumors. May I ask your name?"
"My name is Terumi Sora, the Great Elder of the Terumī Clan. Little Mei told me you wanted to speak with me?"
"So you are Elder Sora. My apologies for the disrespect."
Asuka inclined his head slightly. "Yes, I wanted to discuss the war with your clan."
"The war?" Terumi Sora lifted his teacup and took a sip. "It seems Asuka-kun has his own thoughts about it."
"Indeed. I believe Elder Sora can already sense that the battle between Kumogakure and Sunagakure will not last much longer. Given the current situation, Kumogakure's chances of victory are far lower than expected."
"If they suffer a complete defeat on the battlefield, do you think they will simply give up?"
"Hmph," Terumi Sora snorted softly. "From what I know of those hotheads in Kumogakure, even if they lose to Sunagakure, they won't give up so easily. They'll likely start another war."
"Elder Sora is perceptive," Asuka said calmly. "That's exactly what I want to discuss. When Kumogakure starts a new war, do you think we should intervene?"
"Oh?" Terumi Sora raised an eyebrow. "It sounds like Asuka-kun is quite eager to participate in the war."
The question made Asuka inwardly curse the old fox, but he answered without hesitation.
"Elder Sora truly lives up to his reputation. You saw through my intentions immediately. Yes, I do want to participate in the war."
"Your honesty surprises me," Terumi Sora said lightly. "I thought you would make excuses."
"In front of someone as experienced as you, I doubt any excuse would work," Asuka replied. "Since that's the case, why waste time?"
"It seems Asuka-kun is very confident in himself."
"Of course."
Asuka's tone remained calm. "To be frank, my goal is the Mizukage position. I believe the Third Mizukage's recent actions have already placed considerable pressure on the major ninja clans, haven't they?"
"You are truly bold, Asuka-kun," Terumi Sora said slowly. "Is it wise to reveal your ambitions so openly to me?"
"Elder Sora, straightforward people don't beat around the bush. The Hidden Mist Village is already one of the weaker powers among the Five Great Nations. If the Third Mizukage's policies continue, the village's overall strength will only decline further."
"If the major ninja clans do not unite soon, they will eventually be suppressed one by one."
Hearing this analysis, Terumi Sora's expression was no longer as calm as before.
After a moment of silence, he said, "What you say is not without reason. But why should I help you become Mizukage?"
"Elder Sora," Asuka replied calmly, "everyone in the Hidden Mist Village knows how the Mizukage is chosen. Only the strongest can ascend to that position."
"I happen to meet that requirement. What I lack right now is merely prestige."
"Hahaha!" Terumi Sora burst into laughter. "Asuka-kun, you truly believe in your own strength!"
As the laughter faded, a fierce wave of chakra suddenly erupted from his aged body. The surrounding air seemed to freeze instantly.
It was clear that Terumi Sora had once been a powerful ninja in his youth. Considering that Mei Terumī possessed two kekkei genkai, it was easy to imagine how formidable the Terumī Clan once was within the Hidden Mist Village.
Yet when faced with this overwhelming pressure, Asuka's expression didn't change at all.
"I'm merely stating the truth," he said calmly. "Does Elder Sora truly not wish for someone to replace the Third Mizukage?"
As he spoke, an even more terrifying surge of chakra erupted from his body.
If Terumi Sora's chakra was like a raging river, then Asuka's was like a roaring waterfall crashing from the heavens.
A deep blue aura flared around Asuka, swirling like flames. The floor beneath him cracked under the pressure, fractures spreading toward the walls. The entire house trembled violently from the sheer force of the chakra.
Under that immense pressure, Terumi Sora could barely breathe.
Then suddenly—
The air froze.
Space seemed to reverse itself, as if everything that had just happened had never occurred.
Terumi Sora gasped for breath, his clothes soaked in cold sweat. When he looked at Asuka, his eyes were filled with shock.
He had never expected this young man to possess such terrifying power.
Seeing that his demonstration had achieved its purpose, Asuka withdrew his chakra.
He stepped forward, clasped Terumi Sora's hands, and said calmly,
"It seems Elder Sora recognizes my strength. I assure you that if I ascend to the Mizukage position, I will certainly ease the suppression of the ninja clans."
"After all… I also come from a ninja clan, don't I?"
With that, Asuka stood up.
"It's getting late, Elder Sora. I'll take my leave."
Without waiting for a reply, he opened the door and walked out.
Outside, several clan ninja were already standing on guard, watching him cautiously with weapons ready.
Asuka ignored them completely and walked straight out of the Terumī Clan compound.
The moment he left, the ninja rushed into the building.
What they saw was a chaotic room—and Terumi Sora, still sitting there in stunned silence.
After a moment, Terumi Sora finally regained his composure. Looking at the cracked floor and damaged walls, he muttered with lingering fear,
"What a terrifying young man… It seems I should raise the stakes of my bet on him."
---
Asuka returned home in a good mood. After taking a shower, he lay down on his bed.
"I didn't expect to meet the elder of the Terumī Clan so soon," he thought.
"After today's meeting, my value in their eyes should have increased significantly."
More importantly, during his contact with Terumi Sora, Asuka had successfully activated his Silver Fox ability.
A subtle suggestion had been planted in Terumi Sora's mind:
Whenever he thought about Asuka, it would trigger the same fear he felt when Asuka unleashed his overwhelming chakra.
"With the connections between the ninja clans," Asuka mused, "my strength will spread among the higher ranks soon enough."
Hiding one's strength could avoid trouble—but revealing it could attract valuable resources.
Besides, with his current power, Asuka was not afraid of any faction probing him.
And his strength was still constantly growing.
As more gene sets awakened within the mutant gene bank, Asuka's power would undergo a qualitative leap. If even stronger mutant abilities awakened in the future, there would be very few opponents in the ninja world capable of threatening him.
By revealing his strength to the major ninja clans, Asuka had proven his value.
When the clans felt increasingly pressured under the Third Mizukage, he wanted to be the first person they thought of.
That way, he could maximize his benefits.
As for pushing the clans to intervene in the war earlier—that was merely a secondary goal. If it happened, good. If it didn't, it wasn't a loss.
After all, according to Asuka's memories, following the Third Great Ninja War, Uchiha Obito would later control the Fourth Mizukage, restarting the Bloody Mist Era.
By that time, only a few major ninja clans remained in Hidden Mist, proving just how brutally they had been suppressed during the Third Mizukage's rule.
What Asuka had done today was simple.
He had planted a seed among the ninja clans.
A seed of ambition.
By letting them know that a powerful ninja wanted to replace the Third Mizukage, he ensured that when the time came and they needed a new leader…
They would come looking for him first.
