Chapter 36: The Battle Ends—Itachi Takes Flight
"THAT HODY JONES IS A PRODUCT OF FISHMAN ISLAND'S HATRED!"
"THOSE BASTARDS PLAN TO DESTROY OUR HOME WITH THAT RESENTMENT!"
These were Fukaboshi's final words—shouted into a Den Den Mushi as Hody's attack struck him down—echoing across Fishman Island to every soldier, every citizen, every ear.
King Neptune stood frozen at the Highwater Harbor, staring toward Gyoncorde Plaza in the distance.
"So this is what drove them? This depth of hatred?"
His gaze swept the battlefield. His strongest son, Fukaboshi, lay defeated. The other princes had fallen just as quickly.
Even if Gyro had managed to pump air into Noah at the critical moment, Hody would still face Luffy in the sea—Hody's element, Hody's advantage.
And the plaza? A dozen Straw Hats plus Jinbe against a hundred thousand fanatics, plus steroid-crazed officers.
Even if they had a one-in-a-million chance of winning—Noah, drawn away by Shirahoshi, was now FALLING back toward the island.
"Everything... ends," Neptune whispered.
He couldn't have been more wrong.
On Noah, Luffy was DOMINATING Hody.
In the plaza, the battle had reached its final stage.
"Brother Jeo... Brother Muushi... I saw Dosun earlier too... all killed by the man in black..."
"And Boss Hody—he only attacked that man ONCE. After that, he just RAN."
The murlocs stared at Itachi, their whispers trembling.
"How can we fight THAT?!"
Itachi walked toward them, blade in hand.
The front rank KNELT.
"I SURRENDER! WE SURRENDER!"
The surrender spread like wildfire.
"We surrender!"
Despite their hatred of humans—despite everything—they knelt.
Itachi's voice cut through. "Southeast corner. With the humans. Same rules—your safety is guaranteed."
He walked past them.
They stared after him.
"He... let us go?"
"He's not avenging the slaves?"
A group of hardliners erupted. "TRAITORS! We must fight to the DEATH! Our goal demands—"
WHOOSH.
A fire dragon erased them.
"Same offer. Surrender, and live. Continue, and—" Itachi's gaze swept the survivors. "—I'm running out of patience."
The remaining murlocs SHOOK.
Jinbe stepped forward, holding Jeo's severed head. He stood atop the unconscious Koukorou.
"ALL MURLOCS—LOOK!"
He raised the head high.
"These are your 'brothers'!"
He hurled it into their ranks.
"JEO-ANIKI!"
"ALL YOUR OFFICERS ARE DEAD OR DEFEATED!"
Jinbe's voice boomed across the plaza. "Continue fighting, and YOU will be the only ones who die! LAY DOWN YOUR ARMS!"
A massive murloc roared defiance—and a murloc beside him grabbed his arm.
"SHUT UP! DON'T—"
BOOM.
A Great Fireball annihilated them.
The survivors looked up. Itachi sat on his Black Fire Crow, cold eyes promising death.
"I'm running out of patience."
That was all.
That was ENOUGH.
"I SURRENDER!"
"WE ALL SURRENDER!"
They knelt. All of them.
Jinbe's heart released its final tension.
In the plaza, the Straw Hats lowered their weapons.
"It's over." Nami exhaled.
Robin smiled at Itachi.
"ITACHI-BROTHER! ITACHI-BROTHER!" Usopp and Chopper bounced.
"Itachi-san..." Brook's empty eyes wept tears of joy.
"SUPER!" Franky struck a pose.
Zoro and Sanji stopped brawling.
Then everyone looked up.
Itachi was flying away on his crow.
"Itachi? Where—" Zoro started.
"Luffy." Sanji lit a cigarette. "He's going to help Luffy."
Nami's eyes softened. "He's worried."
Robin nodded—then gasped.
"Nami—look!"
Above, Noah was falling. And rising to meet it—
Itachi.
