Liesa sighed softly.
Her gaze fell on the untouched plate in front of Angus. Toast, sausage, eggs, and vegetables still looked fresh and tempting.
But Angus clearly had no interest.
"If Mr. Romano isn't hungry, then there's nothing I can do," Liesa said quietly.
Liesa reached toward the plate. "But if we leave this, it'll go to waste. I'm not hungry either, but I can—"
"Put it down." Angus's voice was icy.
Liesa's hand froze in midair. She slowly pulled it back.
"I was just trying to help…" Liesa said awkwardly.
Before Liesa could finish, Angus picked up the knife and fork.
Angus began to eat. His movements were slow and deliberate.
Liesa stared at him. Frustration slowly crept onto her face.
She thought,
Watching a graceful person eat should have been pleasant. But watching while starving was a different story.
Angus ate at a painfully slow pace.
Every cell in Liesa's body screamed with hunger. Meanwhile, Angus took his sweet time.
It felt like a test of patience.
And self-control.
"Mr. Romano, maybe you could eat a little faster?" Liesa said finally. Her voice carried a hint of frustration. "It's like you're being forced to eat."
Angus glanced at her briefly.
"No," Angus replied calmly.
Liesa sighed, "Right…"
Angus continued eating at the same glacial pace.
Even when Angus clearly seemed full, he didn't stop.
After finishing the main dishes, Angus turned to the cherry tomatoes. He slowly ate them one by one. Liesa watched with an exasperated expression.
Angus disliked eating. But Angus clearly enjoyed tormenting her.
Between the two options, Angus preferred making Liesa suffer.
Liesa stared at the empty plates for a moment.
Then Liesa muttered quietly, "...It was delicious, though."
After breakfast, a knock sounded at the door.
Sam stepped inside with a set of women's clothes and a makeup kit.
When Sam saw Liesa open the door, he smiled politely. "Miss Valtieri, these are the clothes I prepared for you," Sam said. "Please change into them."
"Thank you, Mr. Summer," Liesa replied with relief.
Liesa quickly accepted the clothes.
When Liesa turned around, Angus was already sitting in a wheelchair.
Curious, Liesa blinked. "Mr. Romano, are you heading out?" Liesa asked.
"Just a walk," Angus replied flatly.
Angus looked slightly uncomfortable. His face had darkened faintly.
Perhaps Angus had eaten a little too much.
Liesa paused for a moment. Then She nodded gently. "Alright. You go ahead," Liesa said. "I'll change first."
But Liesa couldn't help wondering something.
She thought,
Angus gave Liesa a brief glance but said nothing.
Sam immediately stepped forward and began pushing the wheelchair.
As they passed the table, Sam noticed the two empty plates.
Sam raised his eyebrows slightly. "Looks like you've got an appetite today, sir," Sam said with approval.
Sam thought quietly,
Sam continued pushing the wheelchair forward.
Sam added silently,
Sam's lips curved faintly as he thought,
Liesa smiled politely as they left the room. Then she closed the door behind them.
Once they were out of sight, Liesa headed straight for the bathroom.
A quick shower and a change of clothes sounded perfect.
Meanwhile, Sam slowly pushed Angus through the house.
Sam glanced around the hallway and his expression gradually darkened.
"Mr. Grayson's taste isn't bad," Sam muttered quietly. "But how did he let someone turn this place into such a mess?"
Sam shook his head slightly.
"It almost looks intentional," Sam added under his breath.
Sam thought bitterly,
After a few quiet complaints, Sam fell silent again.
He continued pushing Angus down the corridor.
When they passed the study, Angus's eyes flickered slightly.
Angus spoke in a low voice. "The floor here is getting old."
Sam paused immediately. He glanced down at the wooden floor.
The surface did look duller than before.
Sam bent slightly to inspect it. "It could use some wax," Sam said thoughtfully.
"Later, bring me something," Angus said calmly.
"Understood, Mr. Romano," Sam replied at once.
The two continued forward. Soon they reached the courtyard.
Meanwhile, Liesa finished her shower.
Her first instinct was to check her phone.
Liesa glanced at the screen. No new messages.
Seeing no new messages, she let out a sigh of relief before starting to dry her hair. Once finished, Liesa opened the bag Sam had brought earlier.
Inside was a soft pink-and-white dress.
The skirt flared slightly at the hem. A small bow sat neatly at the neckline. The style looked fresh and playful.
Liesa changed clothes and stepped in front of the mirror.
Liesa frowned slightly at her reflection.
She thought,
Liesa tilted her head. The dress made her look younger. Almost childish.
Liesa's eyes shifted to the makeup kit beside the mirror.
She hesitated for a moment before slowly opened it.
After staring at the contents for a while, Liesa smiled wryly.
She thought,
When Liesa finished getting ready and stepped outside, chaos immediately greeted her.
Voices overlapped in the hallway. Servants hurried back and forth, their footsteps quick and uneven.
The entire house felt tense. Liesa frowned and walked toward the noise.
A maid rushed past her, almost running.
Liesa quickly caught the maid's arm. "What happened?" Liesa asked.
"Mr.Grayson fell," the maid said breathlessly.
"He hit his head. I'm going to call a doctor."
The maid pulled free and hurried away.
Liesa frowned slightly. She thought,
Ahead, Nina was loudly directing the servants. "Bring the medicine kit! And call the family doctor immediately" Nina shouted.
Liesa glanced over for a moment. Then she quietly stepped aside instead of joining the chaos.
After asking another servant where Angus was, Liesa turned toward the garden.
The weather outside was perfect that day.
Warm sunlight spread across the courtyard. A gentle humidity softened the air. Carefully maintained flowers surrounded the garden paths.
The view felt peaceful. Almost too peaceful.
Liesa strolled slowly along the stone path.
Before long, Liesa spotted Angus sitting beneath the sunlight.
Angus held a book in his hand. Sunlight outlined Angus's sharp nose. His cool lips and perfectly defined jawline stood out clearly.
One glance was enough to pull someone's attention away from everything else.
Liesa stopped walking. She stood there quietly for a moment. Her eyes lingered on him.
After a while, Angus seemed to sense something.
Angus lifted his head. A girl who looked like a porcelain doll appeared in Angus's line of sight.
Angus froze for a brief second. Then he slowly frowned.
"Is it… weird?" Liesa asked awkwardly.
Liesa brushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
Sam had prepared everything very carefully. The makeup kit contained almost every tool imaginable.
Liesa couldn't resist curling her hair.
Soft waves fell over her shoulders.
They conveniently hid the injured ear beneath the curls.
