"Summer Camp?"
"Yay! I only participated in Summer Camp when I was a kid. I thought those activities had nothing to do with us anymore, but I didn't expect the academy to arrange such an event for us!"
"Long live Seirei Academy! I am deeply honored to be a member of this school."
"I didn't expect the academy to have such interesting activities."
Upon hearing about the activity, the students were filled with anticipation, looking forward to it even more than the Freshman Welcome Party or the Cultural Festival.
Okada Yuriko continued, "The Summer Camp will last for two days. At that time, you only need to prepare some changes of clothes, toothbrushes, and other daily necessities. You don't need to worry about anything else; the academy will handle all the arrangements."
"Summer Camp."
Shiraishi Shin remembered attending a children's Summer Camp in this life when he was young. His parents had signed him up back then, but eleven years had passed, and those trivial childhood matters were no longer well-remembered.
He didn't expect to experience Summer Camp again through a school activity after growing up; he was also looking forward to this outdoor event.
Okada Yuriko looked at the youthful smiles on the students' faces and felt a bit infected by their energy. However, her expression clearly froze when she saw Shiraishi Shin sitting in the last seat of the second row, and memories of that morning kiss uncontrollably flashed through her mind.
The fantasies in her head combined with the sight of Shiraishi Shin before her eyes seemed to create an illusion. It was as if Shiraishi Shin was glowing, and the other students vanished, leaving only him sitting there, solitary and independent of the world.
"Wait, wait, what am I thinking? Am I still dreaming?"
Okada Yuriko quickly shook her head to clear her thoughts. She cleared her throat and said, "Ahem, alright, enough chatter. Let's start the lesson. Turn your textbooks to page twenty-eight, and we'll continue our studies."
"Yes."
The students took out their Japanese textbooks from their bags and turned to the page. Shiraishi Shin rummaged through his bag, eventually placing it on the desk and opening it wide to confirm—he had forgotten his Japanese textbook.
Noticing Shiraishi Shin's large movements, Chitoge Kirisaki asked, "What's wrong, Class Monitor?"
Shiraishi Shin's expression was a bit awkward as he said, "I must have forgotten to pack my Japanese textbook after doing homework last night."
"Then share with me."
"Share with me."
Knowing Shiraishi Shin's predicament, Chitoge Kirisaki wanted to invite him to share her book. It was both a friend's help and a way to repay the favor of him lending her his notebook.
But at the same time Chitoge spoke, Alya at the neighboring desk also extended an invitation.
Their simultaneous offers made Shiraishi Shin look back and forth between the two girls. He felt a bit troubled; he hadn't expected to be in such high demand.
The commotion on his side caught Okada Yuriko's attention on the podium. She asked, "Class Monitor, what's wrong? Why haven't you taken out your textbook yet?"
Shiraishi Shin stood up and said, "Sorry, Teacher, I forgot my textbook."
Shiraishi Shin's direct gaze made Okada Yuriko's heart skip a beat as she met his eyes. She quickly said, "Since you forgot it, share with Kirisaki-san next to you. She just arrived a few days ago, so you can guide her as well."
"Okay."
Okada Yuriko's words conveniently resolved Shiraishi Shin's dilemma. He said to Alya, "Alya, thanks for the offer just now, but I'll share with Kirisaki-san."
Alya turned her head away, feeling a bit annoyed but not showing it. She said, "Whatever."
Shiraishi Shin moved his desk to perfectly align with Chitoge Kirisaki's and brought his chair over. "Kirisaki-san, sorry for the trouble."
Chitoge Kirisaki shook her head. "It's no trouble at all. I should be thanking you for lending me your notebook the day before yesterday."
Shiraishi Shin said nonchalantly, "That was nothing, just a small favor."
The two then stopped talking and looked at the textbook placed between them.
"This is... the scent of jasmine."
Chitoge Kirisaki's nose twitched twice. She smelled a faint, lingering scent of jasmine—fresh and very pleasant.
She soon realized the source of the fragrance was Shiraishi Shin sitting beside her.
"I thought men only smelled like sweat, but I didn't expect the Class Monitor to smell so good." Chitoge Kirisaki inhaled several times, somewhat entranced, and even moved a bit closer to him.
"Next, I'd like a student to translate this line of ancient language into modern speech."
After Okada Yuriko finished speaking, many students raised their hands, wanting to answer. Most were boys, all eager to show off in front of the beautiful teacher.
Okada Yuriko scanned the room and finally locked her gaze on Shiraishi Shin, as that shimmering special filter in her eyes simply wouldn't go away.
"Then Shiraishi-san, you translate it."
"Me?"
Shiraishi Shin looked at the many people in class with their hands raised. Okada Yuriko had specifically chosen him, even though he hadn't raised his hand. After a moment's thought, he had an idea why; throughout the entire lesson, he had felt a faint gaze on him.
It seemed she still couldn't get over that morning kiss. Well, a woman's first kiss and a man's first kiss are completely different things.
He then stood up. What Okada Yuriko was teaching was similar to classical prose, translating flowery ancient Japanese terms into modern plain language. He didn't look at the textbook but translated while looking at Okada Yuriko.
Coincidentally, the passage translated into modern speech was about love and romance.
After hearing it, combined with that special "boyfriend filter," Okada Yuriko almost couldn't take it. Her face turned as red as a monkey's butt. She quickly said she needed to step out, went into the hallway, and gasped for air to calm her heart.
Clutching her swelling chest, she asked herself, "What's wrong with me? I'm really sick, and it's quite serious. My heart feels so tight."
"What's wrong with the teacher?"
Chitoge Kirisaki said, puzzled.
"I don't know."
Shiraishi Shin didn't see why Okada Yuriko had left either. Since he had finished the translation, he just sat back down.
"Kirisaki-san."
"Hmm? What's wrong, Class Monitor?"
The red ribbon on Chitoge Kirisaki's head twitched twice as she tossed her smooth blonde hair and looked at Shiraishi Shin.
Shiraishi Shin spoke with a slightly complicated expression, "I've been wanting to ask—is there some strange smell on me? Why were you making those sniffing motions toward me?"
"Eh!"
Hearing this, Chitoge Kirisaki's expression froze, and her color drained from head to toe, turning her gray and white on the spot.
Her secret sniffing of Shiraishi Shin's pleasant scent had been discovered. How could this happen?
Chitoge Kirisaki felt her scalp tingle with embarrassment. She wanted to crawl into a hole in the ground and disappear; her life had turned into total darkness.
