Chapter 19 - The mysterious new girl

The next morning, everything felt… different.

I couldn't explain it, but there was a strange tension in the air—as if something big was about to happen.

When I reached school, I immediately looked for her.

Lina.

She was sitting alone again, at the back of the classroom, just like always. Her head was down, and her long black hair covered part of her face.

But today… she looked tired.

More tired than usual.

I slowly walked toward her.

"Hey… are you okay?" I asked softly.

She didn't reply at first.

For a moment, I thought she would ignore me again.

But then—

"I didn't sleep," she said quietly.

Her voice sounded weaker than before.

"Why?" I asked.

She looked up at me.

And for a second… I froze.

Her eyes.

They weren't normal.

They looked darker. Almost… glowing.

"I told you to stay away," she whispered.

A chill ran down my spine.

Before I could say anything, the teacher entered the class, and Lina quickly looked away.

The moment was gone.

But something was definitely wrong.

Strange Incidents

During the second period, something weird happened.

Ravi suddenly shouted, "Hey! Who pushed me?!"

Everyone turned to look at him.

He was on the floor.

But no one was near him.

"I swear someone pushed me!" he said, looking scared.

The class started laughing.

"Stop joking, bro," someone said.

But I didn't laugh.

Because I noticed something.

Lina was staring at Ravi.

Her expression was cold.

Almost… angry.

The Warning

After class, I followed Lina again.

"Wait!" I called out.

She stopped this time.

But she didn't turn around.

"You need to stop following me," she said.

"I just want to help," I replied.

"You can't."

"Why not?"

There was a long silence.

Then she slowly turned toward me.

"Because… I'm not normal," she said.

I frowned. "What do you mean?"

She looked around to make sure no one was there.

Then she stepped closer.

"Things happen… when I lose control."

"What things?" I asked.

Her voice dropped to a whisper.

"Bad things."

Suddenly, a strong wind blew around us.

Even though we were inside the school corridor.

Papers started flying.

The windows rattled.

I stepped back in shock.

"See?" she said.

And just like that… everything stopped.

The wind disappeared.

Silence.

My heart was beating fast.

"How did you do that?" I asked.

"I didn't mean to," she replied.

"That's the problem."

The Truth Begins

We moved to a quiet corner behind the school.

"No one knows this," Lina said. "And I want to keep it that way."

I nodded. "I won't tell anyone."

She hesitated.

Then she finally said—

"When I was younger… something happened to me."

"What happened?"

"I don't remember everything. But after that day… I changed."

"Changed how?"

"I can feel things before they happen."

I stared at her.

"And sometimes…" she continued, "I can control things."

"Like the wind?" I asked.

She nodded.

"And not just that."

"Then what else?"

She looked away.

"I don't want to show you."

"Why?"

"Because you'll be scared."

I took a deep breath.

"I'm already scared," I admitted. "But I still want to know."

She looked at me again.

This time, her eyes softened a little.

"You're different," she said.

"How?"

"You didn't run away."

I smiled slightly. "Maybe I'm just stupid."

For the first time—

She smiled.

A small, quiet smile.

The Shadow

Just then, we heard a noise.

A soft… dragging sound.

We both turned.

At the end of the corridor… something moved.

A shadow.

But there was no one there.

"Did you see that?" I whispered.

Lina's face turned serious.

"Yes."

"What is it?"

She didn't answer immediately.

Instead, she grabbed my wrist.

"We need to go. Now."

"Why?!"

"It found me."

"What found you?!"

But she didn't explain.

She pulled me along as we ran.

My heart was racing.

"What's going on, Lina?!"

Finally, we stopped near the school gate.

She looked back, breathing heavily.

"It's not safe anymore," she said.

"What isn't?"

"This place."

I was confused.

"Lina, you're scaring me."

She looked straight into my eyes.

"There's something following me."

My stomach dropped.

"Following you?"

"Yes."

"Since when?"

"A long time."

"Why?"

She shook her head.

"I don't know."

The Decision

For a moment, neither of us spoke.

Then I said, "I'm not leaving you alone."

"You should," she replied quickly.

"No."

"You don't understand."

"Then explain," I said firmly.

She looked at me.

Really looked at me.

As if she was trying to decide something important.

Finally, she said—

"If you stay… your life will change."

"I don't care."

"You might get hurt."

"I still don't care."

There was silence.

Then she sighed.

"Fine," she said.

"But don't say I didn't warn you."

Ending Twist

Just as we were about to leave—

We heard a voice.

"Lina…"

It was soft.

Cold.

Not human.

We both froze.

Slowly… we turned around.

At the school gate—

Someone was standing there.

A tall figure.

Dressed in black.

Face hidden in shadows.

My hands started shaking.

"Who… is that?" I whispered.

Lina's voice trembled.

"That's… the reason I had to run."

The figure stepped forward.

And then—

It smiled.
