Chapter 44 - Mimic Grace, the Roundtable Hold (1/2)

After returning to the classroom, there were still about ten minutes before the next class began.

Luo Yu sat in his chair, boredly scrolling through his phone when it suddenly vibrated. A message had arrived from Yukino Yukinoshita, who sat beside him.

Yukino Yukinoshita:

"Earlier at the clubroom I forgot to ask—how is that kitten now?"

Luo Yu paused for a moment before replying.

Luo Yu:

"Give me a moment."

He then sent a message to Ranni, who was currently at home.

Less than two minutes later, Ranni sent back a photo. Luo Yu immediately forwarded it to Yukino.

On the screen was a picture of the kitten lying on its back on the sofa in Luo Yu's living room, fast asleep with its belly exposed.

Seeing the image, a gentle smile appeared on Yukino's face. She stared at the photo without blinking, enlarging it to examine the kitten more closely.

Watching her reaction, Luo Yu shook his head with a small laugh.

This girl was truly a hopeless cat lover.

Stretching lazily, he took out his mathematics textbook for the afternoon class and prepared for the lesson.

The afternoon slowly passed by.

As Luo Yu grew increasingly drowsy, the bell for the final class finally rang.

The teacher dismissed the class, and the students began packing their bags. Some headed to club activities, while others prepared to go home.

Just as Luo Yu was halfway through packing up, he noticed Yukino had already finished. She stood up with her bag and looked directly at him.

Turning toward her, Luo Yu blinked.

"So you really plan to go together like this?"

Yukino met his gaze calmly.

"Why not? What is there to worry about?"

"Unless, Luo Yu… you're the type who cares about what others think?"

Luo Yu chuckled.

"Well, since you've put it that way, I suppose I don't mind either."

After placing the last few books into his bag, Luo Yu stood up and left the classroom together with Yukino.

As expected, the scene did not escape the attention of their classmates.

Once outside the school building, they waited for a moment before Miko Yotsuya came running toward them.

"Sorry for making you wait!"

Watching her hurry over, Luo Yu smiled.

"You still haven't told your friend yet?"

Miko Yotsuya shook her head rapidly.

"No, no! I want to learn a bit more magic before I say anything."

"And now that I can see clearly, Hana's life force is incredibly strong! Yesterday I saw two evil spirits approach her, and the aura around her scattered them instantly!"

It was the first time Yukino had heard about this.

"So there's another person with special abilities?"

As the three of them walked toward the school gate, Luo Yu explained.

"Not exactly a special ability."

"It's more like her life force is excessively abundant and slightly mutated. The life energy leaking from her body attracts evil spirits, but it can also instantly destroy weaker ones."

"However, despite that constitution, she still can't see evil spirits. That part surprised me as well."

Luo Yu had already known about Hana Yurikawa's condition.

But he truly hadn't expected that a girl with such a strange constitution had managed to live safely until this age.

Aside from her overwhelming vitality, it seemed she was also quite lucky.

Soon, the three of them arrived at Luo Yu's house.

Ranni was currently sitting in the living room watching television. When she saw Yukino arrive as well, she smiled faintly.

"It seems you've made your decision."

Yukino nodded.

"Since I've gained this power, I would like to use it to accomplish something."

"Good," Ranni replied. "Then work hard."

She glanced at Miko Yotsuya, who had already taken out her glintstone staff, then looked at Luo Yu.

"Teaching magic can be done here at home. However, for other training… the space may not be sufficient."

Luo Yu scratched his head in mild frustration.

"That's true. There's really not enough room in the house."

Just as he was speaking, he suddenly felt something inside his inventory space begin to vibrate.

A wave of magic power started leaking out.

"What is this…?"

Startled, Luo Yu quickly took the object out.

In his hand was a golden cone-shaped item emitting powerful magical fluctuations.

Ranni frowned slightly.

"That is… a Mimic Grace."

"But why is its magical energy behaving like this?"

Luo Yu shook his head and placed the increasingly unstable Mimic Grace in a corner of the living room.

The moment it touched the floor, it burst into brilliant golden light under everyone's watchful gaze.

Its physical form dissolved, transforming into a floating mass of golden energy hovering just above the ground. Ripples of light spread across the floor beneath it.

Seeing this change, Luo Yu's eyes widened.

"A Site of Grace? That shouldn't be possible!"

Yukino and Miko Yotsuya stepped closer.

Yukino asked curiously,

"What exactly is that?"

Ranni calmly explained.

"The Lands Between are vast. To travel quickly across distant regions, one must rely on the Sites of Grace scattered throughout the world."

"The object Luo Yu just placed down is called a Mimic Grace. Normally it can only function as a false Grace, projecting guiding light toward nearby Sites of Grace."

"But this transformation… has never happened before."

She turned toward Luo Yu.

"What do you think, my lord?"

Luo Yu placed his hand directly on the glowing Grace.

"We'll know once we test it."

The moment he touched it, a familiar sensation returned.

Luo Yu could clearly feel that he had regained the ability to teleport.

However, this Grace only connected to a single destination.

Opening his eyes, Luo Yu looked at Ranni.

"This Grace only leads to one place."

"The Roundtable Hold."

"The Roundtable Hold?" Ranni asked in surprise.

"Is it the same Roundtable Hold you once visited in the past?"

"But… is it real?"

Luo Yu nodded with certainty.

"The feeling from a Site of Grace doesn't lie."

"As for whether it's truly the Roundtable Hold or not… we'll find out once we go there."

"You three stay here. If everything is safe on the other side, I'll bring you along."

With that, he activated the teleportation.

Under the watchful eyes of the others, his body vanished.

"He disappeared!"

Miko Yotsuya stared in shock.

Turning to Ranni, she asked anxiously,

"Ranni, will Luo Yu be in danger?"

Ranni continued examining the glowing Grace as she answered calmly.

"Danger is unlikely."

"What I'm wondering is… who exactly is orchestrating all of this."

From the moment they defeated the Elden Beast and were pulled into this world…

To discovering the hybrid creatures of the Lands Between here…

And now, a Mimic Grace transforming into a real Site of Grace.

Ranni was becoming more and more certain.

There was a precise reason why she and her lord had been brought to this world.

Could it truly be the will of the Greater Will?

Just as that thought crossed her mind—

Luo Yu suddenly reappeared in the living room.
