Chapter 29 - World Awakens

Morning arrived, but the world did not feel the same.

Every screen in the academy cafeteria showed the same footage.

Shaky videos. Blurred lights. Explosions over the city skyline.

Students crowded around televisions and phones, whispering loudly.

Someone recorded the fight.

Kael leaned closer to one screen.

Yeah… we're definitely not anonymous anymore.

The video showed flashes of golden light erupting from the rooftop. A giant silhouette appearing behind Arjun for a split second before the camera cut out.

News reporters spoke rapidly.

Unidentified energy phenomenon confirmed across multiple districts. Authorities deny supernatural involvement despite growing public speculation.

Another clip played.

A different city.

A massive creature made of shadow tearing through buildings before disappearing into thin air.

Then another.

A person floating midair surrounded by blue flames.

Mira's expression tightened.

It's happening everywhere…

Lyra nodded.

The fracture weakened reality globally. Hidden forces can no longer remain hidden.

Arjun watched silently.

The symbol on his hand pulsed again — slower now, almost calm.

A new broadcast interrupted everything.

The screen switched to an emergency global address.

A woman stood behind a podium marked with an unfamiliar emblem: a circle divided by intersecting lines.

Her voice was steady.

Citizens of the world, secrecy is no longer possible. Humanity is entering a new era.

Images appeared behind her — ancient ruins, strange symbols, recorded anomalies.

For centuries, organizations have protected reality from entities beyond our dimension. Yesterday, containment systems worldwide began failing.

Students fell silent.

The woman continued.

Individuals known as Awakened are emerging. Some will protect humanity. Others may threaten it.

Kael whispered.

Awakened… that's us now?

Arjun felt uneasy hearing it said aloud.

The broadcast shifted again.

A blurred image appeared.

Him.

Standing against the Guardian's light.

Mira grabbed his sleeve.

They know.

The speaker continued.

One unidentified individual has demonstrated direct synchronization with a Guardian-class entity. This event marks the highest anomaly level recorded in modern history.

The cafeteria erupted into chaos.

People turned, looking around nervously.

Arjun pulled his hood lower.

Too late.

A student nearby stared at him.

Wait… that's—

Kael immediately stepped in front.

Wrong guy. Happens all the time.

Lyra spoke quietly.

Recognition has begun. You cannot remain hidden much longer.

Before Arjun could respond, every phone in the room vibrated simultaneously.

A notification appeared worldwide.

Unknown Signal Detected.

Screens glitched.

Static filled the display.

Then a new image appeared — black background, distorted symbol resembling a cracked eye.

A voice spoke, layered and unnatural.

Humanity… finally notices the door opening.

The cafeteria fell completely silent.

You call them anomalies. We call them return.

The cracked sky appeared on screen, widening slowly.

Your Guardians weaken. Your world remembers nothing.

The voice softened.

But one of you has awakened early.

Arjun's chest tightened.

The screen zoomed into his silhouette again.

Unwritten One… we are coming to meet you.

Transmission ended instantly.

Power across the cafeteria flickered back to normal.

No one spoke.

Fear spread like wildfire.

Kael exhaled slowly.

Okay… that's bad. That's really bad.

Mira looked at Arjun.

You didn't ask for any of this.

Arjun stared at the dark screen.

Maybe not.

But something out there already decided his role.

Outside, clouds twisted around the widening sky fracture.

And across the world, new figures began moving — hunters, awakened fighters, hidden organizations… and things far older than humanity itself.

The era of secrecy was over.

The world had officially awakened.

And at the center of it all stood one person who was never meant to exist.
