Chapter 529 - 529

Therefore, the power of a torpedo underwater was far more terrifying than imagined.

Under a single torpedo from the nuclear submarine, half of the HAOS's body was instantly blown to pieces, as if a large chunk had been hollowed out.

"Swoosh, swoosh...!!"

"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh...

Boom——!!!"

However,

before the HAOS could react further,

the nuclear submarine fired two more underwater torpedoes in quick succession, both striking the HAOS's body.

In an instant, an even more terrifying explosive energy swept through. The seabed shook, the waves surged, and the massive shockwave directly propelled Chris and the others in their survival pods rapidly toward the surface.

The HAOS, meanwhile, was completely pulverized by the terrifying explosive power of the underwater torpedoes. Even with the ability to infect the entire world, it was still a carbon-based lifeform.

And carbon-based lifeforms still cannot escape the judgment of thermal weapons. This was true for the C5 Giant Fly, and it was true for the HAOS.

Once real thermal weapons take the stage, these so-called terrifying BOWs become completely useless, wiped out instantly.

The nuclear submarine's nonchalance stood in stark contrast to the HAOS's previous hysteria...

Volume 9 Resident Evil 6: Chapter 83 Survival Against the Odds

The HAOS was dead.

It died with almost no surprises.

Though its death was understated, indeed few carbon-based lifeforms could withstand several underwater torpedo strikes from a nuclear submarine.

As for the infection issue, the HAOS had no way to release the virus to contaminate the ocean in time. First, the C-Virus needs to be concentrated to be released;

it's not that the HAOS's entire body is covered in C-Virus. It only gathers in certain areas, much like a snake's venom gland.

The toxin needs to be secreted through protein conversion within the body, and the same applies to the HAOS.

The virus had already been eradicated by the terrifying energy of the torpedo explosions. Furthermore, regarding the difficulty of infection.

Even if we assume for the sake of argument that the HAOS's virus spread into the ocean, a small amount of virus cannot infect the global oceans.

It would quickly be diluted to nothing, eventually becoming seawater with just a tiny bit of side-effect pollution.

Much like nuclear wastewater, it has the potential for mutagenic infection, but reaching a level that truly causes organisms to mutate is very difficult.

Additionally, the C-Virus itself has complex infection requirements, so it would be very difficult for the HAOS's corpse to contaminate the marine environment.

Furthermore,

in the game's plot, Piers' hundred thousand volts also struck the HAOS's body in the ocean,

exploding along with the entire Underwater Oil Field Base and submerging the HAOS. There is no difference between that and being hit by a nuclear submarine's underwater torpedo now.

But in the subsequent Resident Evil lore, there were no news reports of the ocean being contaminated. Thus, it can be proven

that a dead HAOS cannot cause infection to the marine environment.

In that case... getting hit by a nuclear submarine's underwater torpedo won't cause any side effects either. I can safely write the HAOS's death!

"Beep, beep, beep..."

"Reporting to Command, the target has been eliminated. The nuclear submarine is now surfacing. Please advise..."

In the deep sea, inside the pitch-black nuclear submarine, after confirming the HAOS was completely dead, they did not hesitate.

They immediately opened communications to notify the officers on the aircraft carrier deck and their home country's General Command.

They had been ordered to provide support. Now that the monster was dead, it was naturally time to begin the return voyage.

"Gurgle, gurgle..."

"Splash...!!!"

Not long after,

the spherical survival pods carrying Chris, Leon, and the others, having been caught in the shockwave of the nuclear submarine's torpedo explosion, were forced to the surface.

In less than a few dozen seconds, four snow-white spherical pods were suddenly floating on the sea.

They drifted with the tide. Now, on the distant horizon of the vast ocean, a brilliant morning sun had slowly begun to rise.

They had lived to see the dawn.

This also signaled that this time it really wasn't a game; it was truly over. They had escaped death, and the dawn of hope after the disaster was slowly arriving.

"Aw, aw, aw..."

"Shh, shh, shh..."

Accompanied by the rising dawn, the brilliant morning sun spilled across the shimmering sea, forming a beautiful scene, sparkling like golden fish scales.

It heralded a new life and a new beginning. Many seagulls flew by the shore, adding a touch of aesthetic vitality to this living painting.

"Click—!!!"

Opening the hatch, the heavy glass hatch door popped open.

Fresh oxygen and the sea breeze drifted in, allowing Chris, Leon, and the others to truly taste the breath of new life after the disaster.

Looking at the morning sun on the horizon not far away, Chris turned his gaze toward Jake at his feet. Jake, who had been unconscious, was woken by the piercing sunlight.

At this moment, he slowly opened his eyes with a groan of pain. His body hurt immensely, but the warm sunlight still brought Jake back from his slumber.

Looking at the shimmering sea,

Jake understood what was happening. They had truly escaped from that dark, sunless Underwater Oil Field Base.

Thinking of this...

Jake simply lay back down, gazing at the gray-blue sky and the white seagulls flying past, a smile involuntarily tugging at the corner of his mouth.

This time, it really was the finale.

They hadn't lost a single partner or friend, and Jake felt very satisfied with that; his desperate fighting hadn't been in vain.

His father, Wesker, was gone, and Jake didn't want Chris, his superior who was like both a father and a friend, to leave him too. That was why he had fought so hard.

Fortunately, his efforts were rewarded. No one died. For Jake, this was a conclusion he couldn't be more satisfied with.

Meanwhile, the other survival pods also slowly opened their hatches. Leon, Helena, and Piers all involuntarily broke into smiles as they looked out at the endless sea.

This seemed to be the first time they had ever liked the ocean this much; it was so much better than the pitch-black seabed that felt like a burial ground.

"Gurgle, gurgle..."

"Splash..."

However, the next second, the waves suddenly began to churn, bubbles rose, and a massive black figure slowly began to emerge from the water.

It wasn't the HAOS, but a nuclear submarine. The massive black behemoth surfaced, looking like a giant whale.

Seeing the nuclear submarine before them, Chris and the others were startled, but after seeing the red flag emblem on it, everyone slowly breathed a sigh of relief. It was a CN nuclear submarine.

It was the one that had just killed the HAOS. Fortunately, the support from the CN and HK Government arrived in time; otherwise, they really might not have escaped the HAOS's pursuit.

And it wasn't just the nuclear submarine.

On the sea not far away, a massive aircraft carrier was cutting through the waves, heading toward them at high speed. A moment later,

the carrier arrived before them.

On the deck, Chris, Leon, and the others saw familiar figures: Javier, Sherry, Ada, and Jill.

It turned out that the support from both the nuclear submarine and the aircraft carrier

had been called in by Javier and the others. They had used Jill's status as a BSAA member to broadcast false orders to the officers on the carrier deck,

and exaggerated the danger of the HAOS.

This forced the HK Government to seek help from the mainland motherland, which sent a nuclear submarine for a successful rescue.

Although Javier, Jill, and the others had falsified the orders,

the situation was real.

So, the deployment of the nuclear submarine to eliminate the HAOS happened logically. It could be considered a necessary course of action!

"Chris, Leon..."

"So, did our support arrive in time? It's quite a bit better than the police and FBI in movies who only show up to clean up the mess after the plot is over, right?"

Standing on the deck,

Javier and Jill looked down at the disheveled Chris and his group in the survival pods and joked.

"Very timely..."

"Thank you, Javier, and Jill—you're finally back!"

Looking at the joking Javier and Jill on the deck, Chris didn't get angry; instead, he gave a thumbs-up in gratitude.

There was no other way;

this support had indeed saved his life, and seeing Jill able to return to the front lines made Chris feel both surprised and delighted.

However,

Jill quickly shook her head with a wry smile. Chris probably didn't know what she had just done yet.

Unauthorized dispatch of missions and falsifying various orders... if nothing went wrong,

Jill would soon have her status and credentials revoked by the BSAA. But that was exactly what Jill wanted; she never intended to return to the front lines. She had officially come this time to announce her retirement.

"Ada..."

Meanwhile, Leon, in his survival pod,

spotted that red silhouette on the deck. Ada was also covered in dirt and disheveled.

The sea breeze ruffled Ada's short, elegant black hair. Sensing a burning gaze, Ada's sharp eyes glanced down at Leon.

Looking at this old acquaintance,

Ada pursed her lips and said nothing. Instead, she turned her gaze back to the sea in the distance, staring quietly, speaking no more.

"Javier, are there any more exciting missions like this next time?!"

Taking advantage of the moment,

Sherry, standing beside them, grabbed Javier's arm and suddenly asked.
