Chapter 65 - Chapter Fourteen – Into the Abyss

The convoy moved before dawn.

No lights.

No noise.

Just shadows cutting through the empty road.

This wasn't an attack.

This was something far more dangerous.

A calculated descent into enemy territory.

The Team

Inside the armored vehicle—

No one spoke for a while.

Elena sat between Alessandro and Adrian.

Across from them, Orlov remained still, his gaze distant.

Valentina's voice came through the comms.

"I'll guide you as far as I can."

"How far is that?" Adrian asked.

A pause.

"Not far enough."

"…fantastic."

The Target

Orlov finally spoke.

"The facility isn't on any map."

"Of course it isn't," Adrian muttered.

"It's underground," Orlov continued.

"Built beneath an abandoned industrial zone."

"Layers of security."

"Multiple entry points."

"Only one viable path."

Alessandro's voice was low.

"Show us."

The Entrance

The vehicles stopped in the middle of nowhere.

Broken asphalt.

Collapsed buildings.

Nothing but silence.

Elena stepped out slowly.

Her senses sharpened instantly.

There it was.

Faint.

But real.

A pull.

Like something beneath the ground was calling to her.

The Hidden Door

Orlov walked ahead.

Stopped near what looked like rusted metal debris.

He pressed his hand against it.

A quiet mechanical sound echoed.

Then—

The ground shifted.

A concealed door slid open.

Revealing darkness below.

Adrian looked down.

"…I already hate this."

Descent

They moved in.

Carefully.

Weapons ready.

Elena stepped last—

And the moment she crossed the threshold—

Her body reacted.

A sharp pulse surged through her.

She gasped slightly.

Alessandro turned instantly.

"What is it?"

"It's here."

The Underground

The tunnel stretched endlessly.

Cold metal walls.

Dim lights flickering.

Too quiet.

No guards.

No movement.

Adrian frowned.

"This is way too easy."

Orlov nodded.

"Yes."

"It is."

The First Trap

They reached a wide corridor.

Open.

Clear.

Empty.

Orlov stopped suddenly.

"Wait."

Too late.

The moment Adrian took another step—

The floor beneath him shifted.

"—oh come on!"

The Collapse

The ground gave way.

Adrian dropped instantly.

But not far—

A metal platform caught him mid-fall.

Lights flashed red.

Alarms triggered.

The walls shifted.

And suddenly—

They weren't in a hallway anymore.

The Maze

Metal barriers slammed down around them.

Separating them.

Elena found herself cut off from Alessandro instantly.

"Alessandro!"

"I'm here!"

But he wasn't.

Not anymore.

Walls blocked everything.

Voices echoed.

Distorted.

Distant.

Isolation

Elena stood alone.

Heart pounding.

The air felt different.

Heavier.

Watching.

A voice echoed through the chamber.

Calm.

Controlled.

Familiar.

"Welcome."

The Mastermind Speaks

Elena froze.

Sebastian's voice?

No.

Different.

Deeper.

Colder.

"You've come exactly as planned."

Her eyes narrowed.

"Show yourself."

A soft chuckle echoed.

"Not yet."

Psychological Warfare

The walls shifted again.

Screens lit up around her.

Images flashed—

Her past.

Her parents.

Moments she had forgotten.

Moments she never knew.

Her breath caught.

"What is this?"

"Truth."

The Breaking Attempt

"You were never meant to live a normal life," the voice said.

"You were hidden."

"Protected."

"Lied to."

"Stop."

But the images continued.

Her parents arguing.

Fear.

Running.

Hiding.

"They feared what you would become."

"Stop!"

Power Reacts

The air around her surged violently.

The screens cracked.

Flickered.

Then shattered.

Silence followed.

Heavy.

Electric.

Meanwhile – Alessandro

In another section—

Alessandro stood surrounded by armed Syndicate soldiers.

They didn't move.

Didn't attack.

Just waited.

Watching.

Testing.

One stepped forward.

"Orders?"

Alessandro's voice was ice.

"Come closer."

They did.

Big mistake.

Brutality Unleashed

Within seconds—

The room turned into chaos.

Alessandro moved like death itself.

Every strike precise.

Every movement lethal.

No hesitation.

No mercy.

This wasn't a fight.

It was a massacre.

Back to Elena

The voice returned.

Softer now.

"Impressive."

"You resist better than expected."

Elena's voice steadied.

"I'm not breaking."

"No."

A pause.

"You're evolving."

The Truth Revealed

The room shifted again.

The walls opened slowly.

And for the first time—

She saw it.

The core.

A massive structure pulsing with energy.

Alive.

Connected.

Waiting.

Her heart dropped.

"…what is that?"

The Answer

The voice spoke one final time.

"That…"

"…is your future."

Final Scene

Across the separated chambers—

Alessandro fought forward.

Relentless.

Unstoppable.

"Elena!"

His voice echoed faintly.

She heard it.

Felt it.

And stepped forward.

Toward the unknown.

Toward the truth.

Toward the machine.
