Chapter 288 - 288 Magic Power Increase

When Alan finished speaking and looked at Tonks again, she had already quietly darted seven or eight meters away, watching him as if he were a monster.

"You really are a pervert! You even tricked me into coming over here, and now you want to draw my blood. Are you going to use me for Dark Arts experiments?" Tonks looked at Alan warily, drawing her wand and pointing it at him nervously. In her eyes, Alan had transformed from a gourmet wizard into an evil sorcerer.

Seeing this, Alan laughed wryly. This girl had clearly misunderstood. In the wizarding world, anything involving blood easily made people think of the Dark Arts.

"You've misunderstood. When I said 'blood draw,' I simply meant to measure your magic power. This is just a special method I developed; there's no need to be so nervous," Alan said softly, trying to comfort her.

"I don't believe it." Tonks shook her head, her hair instantly turning blue as it reflected her mood.

Alan shook his head helplessly. In the distance, the others practicing had noticed the commotion. Seeing Alan near the kitchen and knowing good food was on the way, they ended their training and gathered around.

"Alan, what delicious food are you making today?" Bill's eyes lit up as he approached, noticing Tonks not far away. "Oh? Aren't you that Hufflepuff student who can transform? What, did you come here to freeload on the food too?"

"What freeloading? There's a Dark Wizard standing right next to you, aren't you scared?" Tonks looked at everyone cautiously. She didn't know why these Gryffindor students were hanging out with a Slytherin.

"Dark Wizard? Are you talking about Alan?" Bill and Charlie burst out laughing. "What are you talking about? He's a combat hero recognized by the Ministry of Magic. He once single-handedly captured several Death Eaters. It's more accurate to say he's the bane of Dark Wizards."

"Then why does he draw people's blood without a second thought?" Tonks had never paid much attention to the news. She might have seen Alan's name, but he had been quite low-key in the past two years, so it hadn't registered.

"A blood draw?" Charlie raised an eyebrow and turned to Alan. "Are you planning to have her undergo training too? Is she very special? You must really value her."

"Her ability is unique. I want to see if I can help her develop this transformation talent, or perhaps even discover the secrets of a Metamorphmagus," Alan said with a smile, explaining to Charlie.

Tonks saw that the others didn't react at all to the mention of blood, which she found baffling. "What are you talking about? Didn't you hear him? Only Dark Wizards do such evil things when they want to curse people."

"You've misunderstood, Tonks," Charlie said, stepping closer. He had been the one to bring her over. "Alan only draws blood to measure your magic power reserves. We've all done it, you know? My initial magic power was over a hundred units! Alan even called me a genius."

As a first-year, Charlie was quite familiar with Tonks. Seeing him speak with such pride, Tonks began to hesitate. Had she really misunderstood? These Gryffindors didn't seem like they were lying. She deliberated for a while and slowly lowered her wand.

"Then how do you prove it?" she asked, still keeping her distance.

"What's there to prove? Just measure it right here," Charlie said with a grin.

Bill and Charlie then personally demonstrated the magic power measurement device to Tonks. To her astonishment, their current values were measured on the spot: Bill at 276 units and Charlie at 106.

"These numbers represent the magic power within your bodies?" Tonks widened her eyes in disbelief, leaning in to look.

"That's right. I was only at 143 units when school started last year. In just one year, it increased so much! No wonder Alan said that after the third year, a wizard's magic power would grow significantly," Bill said, pointing at the dial with a sigh.

"Yes, Alan said that new students entering school usually have between 50 and 80 units. My magic power exceeding a hundred when I started proves my talent. Bill's is also very impressive; his power is even higher than Charlie's was at the same time," Charlie added, showing off.

"That's because Bill started training a year earlier than I did," Charlie said, holding a large basin of cooked ribs and sitting by the grill. "Alan's training method can steadily increase the upper limit of magic power. Of course, the most significant improvement is magic sensitivity."

Those who underwent the regimen privately called it 'Alan's Training Method,' and Alan didn't object to the name.

"Besides training, magic growth is also greatly related to nutrition," Alan said, sitting down and casually casting Incendio to light the grill. "The magic power growth rate of young wizards is naturally fast. Generally, upon entering school, it's about 50 to 80 units. In the second year, the natural increase is about 50 units, but with deliberate training, it can reach 60 or 70."

Alan continued as he arranged the ribs on the grill: "Between twelve and thirteen years old, there is a larger leap. The individual differences are significant, generally between 50 and 100 units. With training, it can stably exceed 100 units. Bill's increase reached 130 units, showing strong potential."

"This increase is crucial for a wizard's growth, but if it lacks guidance, it can pose dangers. This is why wizards send their children to Hogwarts during this period. Professor Flitwick explained that schools like this have specialized protective magic to prevent wizards from being harmed by their own internal power or becoming Obscurials. Ever since the wand was invented, guiding that power has become much easier."

"Young wizards will continue to maintain a growth trend of 50 to 100 units until they are fifteen—which is the fifth year—and then it will start to slowly decline. At sixteen and seventeen, the increase returns to around 50 units. By the time they graduate, a wizard's magic power is generally between 350 and 600 units. The average graduate has around four or five hundred."
