Thinking of this, Alan naturally drew the wand from his waist and infused a small amount of magic into it, causing it to emit faint electrical currents. Upon seeing the wand and the weak yet imposing electric arc, the Thunderbird instantly became even more excited, letting out a loud cry. However, this cry was different from before; even Alan, standing nearby, could feel the joy conveyed in its call.
"Quiet!" Alan softly called out, simultaneously attempting to activate the magic rune with his wand, releasing a wave of magic fluctuation and integrating his voice into it. In the minds of everyone present, the word 'Quiet' seemed to resonate simultaneously. It didn't appear as a spoken word but transformed directly into meaning and concept, as if someone had shouted it directly into their thoughts.
Newt and the two Directors perceived this and were secretly astonished. How could this young man possess such a highly skilled casting technique? It couldn't possibly be something he just stumbled upon by chance.
The Thunderbird, understanding Alan's call, immediately closed its beak and slowly lowered itself, quietly watching him. Alan was delighted to find that the creature truly understood his meaning. He had only tried it experimentally—integrating his thoughts, words, and the thought magic rune to see if it could facilitate communication—and hadn't expected it to succeed on the first try.
Seeing the Thunderbird regain its composure, Alan turned his head and nodded to Newt and the two Directors, indicating that they could continue their work. Immediately after, Bianca began to direct the staff in an orderly manner, arranging for them to move and disperse the cages using the Levitation Charm without directly releasing the magical creatures inside. Releasing them could cause chaos and would not be conducive to their care, a point Mr. Scamander had specifically emphasized.
During this time, Alan remained by the Thunderbird's side. They found that with Alan guarding it, the Thunderbird behaved very calmly, but as soon as he moved away, it would become restless.
"Alan, it seems this Thunderbird has some inexplicable connection with you," Newt said, coming to Alan's side and looking between him and the creature.
"I think it might be related to my wand. The core is a Thunderbird feather, and it became very affectionate when I took it out," Alan said without turning, silently watching the Thunderbird. Perhaps because of Alan's companionship, it felt more at ease and had slowly closed its eyes to sleep.
"So that's how it is. Then our connection is truly deep. I remember that the only wand Mr. Ollivander made with a Thunderbird feather was made from a feather I gave him," Newt said with a gentle smile, a hint of emotion in his voice.
"I remember it too," Alan nodded slightly. He recalled Mr. Ollivander mentioning this when he gave him the 'Dark Depiction'. "This wand has helped me a lot, so it seems I should be thanking you instead."
"Haha, the fact that our destinies can be linked by this feather is a coincidence in itself. I imagine your connection with your wand must be very close, which is why it caught the attention of this Thunderbird," Newt chuckled, delighted to learn of this link with the young man.
Alan nodded silently. His connection with Dark Depiction was indeed very close, and because of it, subduing Wild Lightning had been far easier. It was also time to think of a way to arm and upgrade the wand. Thinking of this, Alan couldn't help but recall 'that' plan. He hadn't been able to carry it out before due to insufficient preparation, but now it was time to consider it. Moreover, the 'Thunderbird' from the Silver Spears was still at large; if he wanted to truly defeat him, he had to improve his strength as soon as possible.
However, Alan shook his head with a hint of hesitation. The materials were ready, but his accumulation of knowledge was still lacking; he needed to deepen his understanding of alchemy. He looked at Newt again. The kettle he was holding was very interesting, and Alan wondered if he could find an opportunity to borrow it for research.
"What is it, Alan? Is there something on my face?" Newt asked, somewhat puzzled by the young man's strange look.
"Ah, I was wondering what will happen to these confiscated creatures. There are many rare protected animals among them, like the Horned Serpent, Nundu, Griffin, and of course, this Thunderbird," Alan said, using a casual question to deflect.
"You want to ask about this Thunderbird, don't you?" Newt smiled, thinking he understood. "The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures has a dedicated breeding park. Common creatures like the Thestrals and Jobberknolls will be well taken care of there."
"Some rare species that are difficult to raise or rarely seen are usually entrusted to organizations or scholars who cooperate with the Ministry. For example, if creatures like Unicorns, Tebo Warthogs, or Hippogriffs are found, they are usually sent to Hogwarts. They have well-established communities there, and Professor Kettleburn is a very responsible wizard."
"Most of the creatures rescued today are unique to America. Most scholars in Britain do not have experience caring for them, so they will likely be sent to my place."
Newt smiled. As a legendary wizard who had traveled to various countries, his experience with magical creatures was almost unparalleled. The Ministry of Magic usually handed over any unfamiliar species to him. As he expected, Bianca soon approached him, expressing hope that he could accept the creatures other than the Thestrals and Jobberknolls on behalf of the Ministry.
Newt didn't refuse. Once the Ministry staff loaded the creatures onto the transport, they would be taken directly to the Scamander home. Bianca herself would accompany them, indicating how much importance the Ministry attached to their safety.
