Chapter 386 - 386

"Oh? So, if I cultivate a bond with the Thunderbird, I'll have a chance to deepen this connection? Doesn't that mean I might be able to form a bloodline contract with a Thunderbird?" Alan said, suddenly enlightened.

Newt didn't deny it. "Yes, if your connection with the Thunderbird can go a step further, you do have a chance to establish a bloodline contract with the Thunderbird race. However, there are corresponding prerequisites."

"What kind of conditions?" Alan was very excited at the thought of possibly having a powerful magical creature like a phoenix, similar to Dumbledore, as a companion.

"The establishment of a bloodline contract between a wizard and a Thunderbird is actually a two-way choice, and it also requires corresponding strength as support. Both parties signing the contract must meet two conditions: one is that they have a sufficiently close mental connection, and the other is powerful strength, which includes sufficient magic and magical sensitivity. Moreover, both parties signing the contract must meet these two conditions," Newt hinted meaningfully.

"Oh? You mean…" Alan seemed to understand Newt's meaning but wasn't entirely sure.

"Precisely. To be honest, your strength is very good, but I cannot make an accurate judgment on whether it meets the standard for a bloodline contract. Even if there's a gap, it won't be too far off; it's likely just a matter of time. But the rescued Thunderbird is only just reaching its prime. With its current strength, it certainly doesn't meet the conditions to support the establishment of a bloodline contract."

"Generally speaking, when wizards establish a bloodline contract with a magical creature, they usually establish it with the leader of that species and then choose a specific creature from the group to be their partner. If you have such an idea, you might have to find a more powerful Thunderbird leader who can recognize you. Moreover, I don't know much about the specific process of signing a bloodline contract. However, I do know that blindly signing a contract with a creature of insufficient strength can lead to terrible consequences."

"According to legend, in ancient times, a wizard wanted to sign a bloodline contract with the giant race. Because he didn't get the giant leader's recognition, he blindly signed a contract with an ordinary giant, which resulted in mutations in both parties. It's rumored that the troll race was born this way."

Newt was actually seeing a wizard with a bloodline sense for a magical animal for the first time. The Dumbledore family, for example, had signed a contract with a certain phoenix clan in their ancestry; the Headmaster was merely a beneficiary of that. Therefore, regarding this situation, Newt could only use the documented information he knew as a reference. He couldn't give more valuable advice on the specific details, and everything would have to be explored by Alan himself.

"So that's how it is…" Alan felt a chill down his spine after hearing Newt's description. He had thought he could become a Thunderbird knight, but he didn't expect a bloodline contract to have such a significant hidden danger. No wonder he had never seen anyone else with a bloodline contract creature besides Dumbledore. It turns out the magical creature has to be strong enough. Does that mean some creatures that aren't strong enough are inherently unable to sign a bloodline contract?

However, after Alan thought about it, he felt that it actually made sense. If any creature could establish a mental connection and sign a bloodline contract… then the first creature Alan would sign a contract with would definitely be a Tebo Warthog. He was proficient in hundreds of cooking methods for the species and was also the professional pig farmer at the Hogwarts Magical Animal Sanctuary. The Tebo Warthogs outside the Forbidden Forest were all on very good terms with him, but he hadn't seen any pig that could establish a mental connection with him. It was a good thing he didn't have a crazy idea to target them; otherwise, the wizarding world would have a very strange new race of hybrids.

"So, if I want to sign a bloodline contract with the Thunderbird race, I still need to find a more powerful leader among them?" Alan didn't give up the idea and actively considered other possibilities.

"Theoretically, yes, but before that, you'll have to build a good relationship with that Thunderbird. Also, while the Thunderbird race is closely related to the phoenix, their living area has always been in North America. Decades ago, I once rescued a Thunderbird from the Silver Spears and released it in the United States. If you have such an idea, you might have to make a trip to North America."

Newt seemed to recall some wonderful memory again, and the corners of his mouth unconsciously curled up. After coming back to his senses, he looked at Alan again. "But what I want to tell you is not just about the bloodline contract."

"Not about that?" Alan glanced at Newt with a hint of curiosity, then reacted. "Oh right, you said before that deepening my mental connection with the Thunderbird could help with something?"

"Yes." Newt nodded in confirmation. "If you can truly sense the Thunderbird remotely, you might have a chance to help us track down another Thunderbird."

"Another Thunderbird?" Alan raised an eyebrow, then quickly recalled that when the Ministry got a lead on the Silver Spears half a year ago, they were transporting one. "You mean the one that was transported away half a year ago?"

"Precisely." Newt was very pleased with Alan's quick thinking. "After the Ministry's pursuit failed last time, they asked me for help. I remember Bianca sent that young and beautiful secretary to find me, hoping I could help them identify the feathers picked up from the smuggling route. I recognized them as belonging to a Thunderbird at first glance. And I can confirm that it was also a young Thunderbird."

Newt paused before continuing. "Perhaps that Thunderbird is related to the one we rescued yesterday. Through comparison, I found that their feather shaft structures are very similar. That young Thunderbird is very likely the child of the one in the park. So, if you can establish a remote connection with the Thunderbird, perhaps you can also sense the location of that other Thunderbird through the bloodline connection." Newt himself wasn't entirely sure, but this was a judgment he made based on his many years of academic experience.
