Chapter 75 - Chapter 75: Lucian Takes the Field — The Self-Created “Dragon Soul Calming Charm”

The second champion to enter the arena was Fleur Delacour of Beauxbatons.

The dragon she faced was a Welsh Green—beautiful, elegant… and deadly.

As Fleur stepped onto the field, her breathtaking beauty caused a brief hush across the stadium.

Unlike Cedric, she chose not to rely on distraction.

Instead, she planned to display a more delicate and enchanting kind of magic.

She raised her wand and began chanting a strange spell in a soft, melodic rhythm.

The sound itself seemed magical.

The previously restless green dragon slowly grew sluggish. Its eyelids drooped, its enormous head nodding drowsily.

"It's a sleeping charm!" someone shouted from the Ravenclaw stands.

"A very advanced one—almost similar to Veela magic!"

The dragon seemed on the verge of falling fully asleep.

Fleur tiptoed toward the nest.

But just as she was about to succeed—

The half-asleep dragon let out a tremendous snore.

"WHOOOSH!"

A burst of scorching flame suddenly shot from its nostrils.

Fleur screamed and jumped back just in time.

She avoided the worst of it—but the hem of her elegant blue silk robe caught fire.

Black smoke curled upward as she frantically extinguished the flames.

The sleeping charm collapsed.

The awakened dragon roared furiously, chasing her with blasts of fire.

After a long and chaotic struggle, Fleur finally managed to snatch the golden egg.

But she looked exhausted and badly shaken.

Krum's Turn

The final champion before Lucian was Viktor Krum of Durmstrang.

His opponent was even worse.

A Chinese Fireball dragon.

The massive crimson beast was covered in spikes, its golden eyes burning with savage fury.

Krum adopted a completely different strategy.

Aggression.

He moved swiftly around the arena, dodging attacks while firing precise spells.

Suddenly—

A red beam struck the dragon directly in the eye.

"Conjunctivitis Curse!" someone shouted.

The dragon shrieked in agony, temporarily blinded.

Krum seized the moment.

Like a phantom, he dashed into the nest and grabbed the golden egg.

But his attack enraged the dragon.

Blinded and furious, it rampaged wildly across the arena.

In the chaos, its enormous foot crashed down on its own nest.

CRACK—CRACK—

Several real dragon eggs shattered beneath its weight.

Krum escaped with the golden egg, greeted by thunderous cheers from Durmstrang.

But the dragon keepers were furious.

The judges immediately deducted heavy points for destroying the precious eggs.

Cedric's cleverness.

Fleur's elegance.

Krum's brutality.

All three had succeeded—but all had suffered.

The difficulty of the task was undeniable.

Then Bagman's amplified voice rang out again.

"Now… the final champion!"

"From Hogwarts… Lucian Thornwick!"

He paused dramatically.

"And he will face… the most dangerous dragon of all…"

"The Hungarian Horntail!"

A wave of terrified murmurs swept the stadium.

If the previous dragons were dangerous—

The Horntail was death itself.

The Monster Appears

The dragon keepers dragged the beast into the arena with thick iron chains.

It was enormous.

Larger than the previous dragons combined.

Its body was covered in black, reptilian scales.

Its long tail was lined with bronze spikes that whistled through the air when it moved.

Its yellow slit-pupiled eyes burned with savage madness.

"ROOOOAR!"

The Horntail unleashed a 50-foot column of orange fire, lighting half the sky red.

Even spectators hundreds of meters away felt the scorching heat.

The dragon keepers fled immediately.

The Horntail settled over its nest, guarding the golden egg beneath its claws.

The arena fell silent.

Lucian Enters

From the champion's tunnel, a lone figure walked out.

Lucian Thornwick.

He wore no protective gear.

Just his simple Hogwarts robes.

Against the massive dragon, he looked almost fragile.

Thousands of eyes followed him.

Hogwarts Stands

Hermione covered her mouth in terror.

Ron looked pale as paper.

Many Gryffindor students stood up, silently praying.

They believed in Lucian.

But that was a Hungarian Horntail.

Could he even survive?

Durmstrang Stands

Most students folded their arms coldly.

"Bet one Galleon," one muttered.

"He runs away crying in thirty seconds."

"Twenty seconds," another replied.

Beauxbatons Stands

The girls watched with uneasy expressions.

Even Fleur's earlier mockery had faded.

After seeing the other battles, she knew how deadly the challenge was.

Yet Lucian still looked…

calm.

Too calm.

Almost like someone who had already accepted defeat.

A Man and a Dragon

Lucian walked calmly to the center of the arena.

Then he looked up.

The dragon looked down.

Their eyes met.

Lucian's gaze was steady and analytical.

He observed the creature like a researcher studying a specimen.

Mixed bloodline… chaotic mind… powerful energy core but poor control…

He reached a simple conclusion.

"Just a beast."

The Horntail growled.

It sensed something strange.

This human showed no fear.

No caution.

No respect.

The dragon prepared to incinerate him the moment he stepped closer.

The entire stadium held its breath.

Then Lucian did something unbelievable.

He did not draw his wand.

He didn't take a defensive stance.

Instead—

He slowly raised one hand toward the dragon.

Gasps erupted.

"Is he insane?!"

"Is he trying to touch a Horntail?!"

Even Hogwarts students were terrified.

But Lucian saw something others couldn't.

Beneath the dragon's rage…

There was something deeper.

A powerful instinct.

A mother protecting her eggs.

Its fury came from fear.

Its violence came from anxiety.

Fighting it with force would only make things worse.

The Birth of a New Spell

Lucian's mind raced.

His extraordinary insight activated.

Research question:

How to calm a magical creature consumed by protective instinct?

Solution:

Not violence.

Not suppression.

But understanding and resonance.

Send a signal directly to its soul.

A message:

I mean no harm.

Your children are safe.

Within seconds—

The magic formed.

A brand-new spell was created.

Dragon Soul Calming Charm.

The Miracle

Soft golden light appeared in Lucian's palm.

Warm.

Gentle.

Like sunrise.

Then he spoke.

Not in any known language—

But in ancient syllables that seemed to resonate with life itself.

"Dragon Soul Calming Charm."

Golden light scattered into the air like floating seeds.

They drifted toward the Horntail.

The dragon froze.

Its jaws stopped mid-roar.

The madness in its eyes slowly faded.

Confusion appeared.

Then calm.

The enormous beast released a low, uncertain rumble.

And then—

A miracle happened.

The Hungarian Horntail slowly lowered its massive head.

Its gigantic body gently settled onto the ground.

Its deadly tail curled peacefully beside it.

The dragon simply lay there.

Watching Lucian.

Not with hatred.

But with trust.

Like a mother recognizing someone who meant no harm.

Absolute Silence

The entire stadium was silent.

Bagman's megaphone fell from his hand.

Dumbledore shot to his feet, his eyes blazing with shock and exhilaration.

Karkaroff and Madame Maxime stared like statues.

Every student sat frozen.

They had just witnessed something impossible.

A fourteen-year-old boy…

Without a wand.

Without an attack spell.

Simply spoke a sentence—

And the most dangerous dragon in the world…

Lay down like a gentle kitten.

This was no ordinary magic.

To them…

It looked like the authority of a god.
