In History
The world was full of mana. Mana flowed in the earth, the wind, and even in people. Some learned small magic, but a few powers were much stronger:
Infernos — Fire, a demon realm power that destroys everything.
Astra — Light, a human power that fights darkness.
Veil — Space, a human power that seals and controls forces.
When these powers fought, the world shook. Mountains fell, rivers boiled, skies burned. Even Astra and Veil together barely stopped Infernos. People called them legends, though some said they were still out there.
Centuries passed.
Kaal Grimheart's Story
Kaal Grimheart was seventeen. He lived in a small village in the Royal Kingdom. He was kind and brave, but he had no magic at all. He could not use mana like others. He relied only on his strength, his mind, and his heart.
Every day, Kaal Grimheart helped the villagers. He carried water, lifted fallen carts, and guided children safely through the village. People admired him, though some thought he worked too much.
His best friend, Rion, was always beside him. Rion was playful and brave. He laughed easily but never hesitated to fight for anyone in danger.
Elina, soft-spoken and caring, often walked with them. "Kaal, you don't have to do everything yourself," she said.
"I know," Kaal Grimheart smiled. "But I want to help."
A faint voice brushed his mind. "Kaal."
He froze. "Who is calling me?"
Rion laughed. "You're daydreaming again. Come on, we have work to do!"
But Kaal Grimheart felt something strange inside him. A pull, a soft warmth. He could not ignore it.
The King is Coming
Rumors spread of the king's cruelty. He demanded obedience from all villages. Those who failed to pay taxes or disobeyed his rules were punished harshly. Homes burned. Families were hurt. Villages were left in ruins.
In the afternoon, black banners appeared on the horizon. Soldiers marched toward the village. Smoke rose from the distance.
Kaal Grimheart shouted, "Rion! Elina! Stay close!"
Chaos in the Village
The soldiers stormed through. Fires broke out. People screamed. Kaal Grimheart lifted fallen carts, helped children escape, and guided villagers to the open fields.
Rion fought bravely beside him. He swung his sword at soldiers who threatened the weak. Even in chaos, his grin appeared briefly as he encouraged the villagers.
"Kaal… come," the whisper returned, urgent now. Kaal Grimheart froze, heart pounding. He looked around. Chaos was everywhere. "I can't leave them!" he shouted.
Elina grabbed his sleeve. "Kaal! We need to move everyone!"
"Yes!" he nodded. Together, they helped the last villagers escape.
Night Falls – The Voice and the Gate
Night fell. Kaal Grimheart wandered near the old ruins at the edge of the forest. Smoke from the burning village still filled the air. A faint golden glow appeared above the stones.
"Kaal," the voice said softly.
He stopped. His chest burned with a strange warmth. "Who is calling me?" he whispered.
Rion walked beside him. "Whatever it is, I'm with you, Kaal," he said, placing a hand on his shoulder.
The golden light grew brighter. Kaal Grimheart felt drawn toward it. His thoughts went to Elina, to Rion, and to the villagers he had just saved.
"Kaal, come," the whisper said firmly.
This time, it felt commanding. He could not resist.
The Gate Appears
Ahead, among the ruins, a glowing gate hovered silently above the stones. It pulsed softly, as if alive. Kaal Grimheart's heart raced. He could feel something powerful waiting on the other side.
"Step forward, Kaal. Your destiny awaits," the voice said.
He hesitated. Thoughts of his friends and the village filled him. Could he leave them behind? But something deep inside told him he could not turn back.
Slowly, he stepped closer to the gate. The air shimmered around him. His heart beat so loudly, he thought it might echo across the world.
"Kaal, this is only the beginning," the voice said.
Kaal Grimheart took a deep breath. The glow of the gate surrounded him. Then he stepped forward.
