The envelope arrived at seven in the morning.
Mara was in Nico's study when Luca brought it to Nico's attention. She'd been at the side table since six-thirty, cross-referencing her margin notes from the Greco file against a new set of Council minutes that had appeared on the desk overnight.
She didn't ask where they came from anymore; they just appeared, the same way the files did.
Nico broke the seal and read the first page. Then he set it flat on the desk without any expression at all.
"The coroner's report Bruno presented at the Blood Session," he said. "This is the original copy. Before it went through Council channels."
Mara looked up from her notes. "What's different about it?"
"The filing time." He slid it across the desk toward her. "Top right corner."
