Chapter 7 - Avalon

I watched Shirou for a moment longer and was about to bring my focus to Rin Tohsaka when...

Shirou accidentally slipped mid–high jump. His knee scraping against the ground, tearing his P.E. pants and leaving a mild injury.

But... what held my focus was not his injury itself.

Rather, [Ultimate Analyst] had already assessed the wound's severity, while [Ultimate Detective] calculated the timeframe for platelet formation and cellular regeneration.

Yet his injury was healing 2.36 seconds faster than my estimate.

Improbable. My calculations were never wrong.

The only explanation for such a discrepancy...

An unknown variable existing outside my database.

Medea. I spoke flatly.

Yes, Master? She replied in a heartbeat through our connection.

Go and set up a boundary field in one of the abandoned classrooms. I commanded, finally shifting my gaze away from Shirou.

...

I moved to a bench near the playground and sat. Within my mind, countless streams of thought accelerated to a lightning pace.

[Ultimate Analyst] and [Ultimate Inventor] converged on a single task.

First, [Body Reinforcement]... A spell that boosts the existence of a target by infusing it with magical energy to enhance natural capabilities.

Second, [Gradation Air] or [Projection Magecraft]... A spell used for the materialization of objects in accordance with the caster's imagination.

I stripped the underlying formulas of any excess, reducing them to raw algorithms. These were then merged and expanded upon using the foundational knowledge Medea had provided.

One attempt. Two. Four. Ten.

By the eleventh iteration, precisely 12.73 seconds later, the synthesis was complete.

The result was a new form of [Body Reinforcement]. It utilized [Gradation Air] to project the biological components of a phantasmal species directly onto my body, theoretically capable of tremendously increasing my base strength.

It carried some similarities to [Shell Projection]. A rare variant of [Gradation Air].

With this new spell. I could possibly project dragon scales across my body. Tremendously increasing my physical strength and defense against other magecraft.

I required only one final component to stabilize this new magic.

Information on a living phantasmal beast and its physiology.

I designated the new thaumaturgical spell as...

[Beast Will].

Homurahara Academy.

Abandoned Classroom.

I sat within the dusty room, surrounded by the dormant boundary field Medea had carved into the structure.

The classroom door slid open. Shirou Emiya stepped inside, wearing that trademark expression of self-sacrifice.

It took him a moment to scan the room before his gaze finally landed on me. He walked forward, bringing a hand to the back of his head with an easygoing smile.

"Hello... I'm Shirou Emiya. Are you Izuru Kamukura? I heard that you asked for my help... So how can I help you, Kamukura-san?"

He stopped directly in front of me.

Zero caution. Zero wariness. Zero self preservation.

My expression remained flat.

Activate the boundary field, Medea. I commanded through our connection, rising from my chair.

My face remained blank.

By the time his eyelids lifted, I was already behind him.

He had no time to process the movement before my hand struck his carotid artery. The sudden shock to his system cut consciousness instantly, and he slumped sideways.

I impassively stood over his unconscious form.

"Medea." My voice echoed through the abandoned classroom.

A woman wearing a hooded robe materialized behind me in response. Her expression remained impassive, though if one looked closely, they would see the corners of her mouth curved slightly upwards—pleased to be of use.

"Check his blood for any supernatural components, and mark him for surveillance." I bought my hand down, against his chest.

[Ultimate Analyst] dissected his existence like a ravenous beast.

[Ultimate Detective] catalogued the data and formulated conjectures.

[Ultimate Physiologist] hunted for the deviation between his biology and that of a standard human.

"Hm?"

My eyebrows lifted by a single millimeter.

He was a normal human. There was no special biology, no latent mutation that would explain why his healing speed had deviated from my calculations.

Just as my mind began to cycle through new conjectures, [Ultimate Precognition] thrummed to life. I followed the impulse, pressing my hand deeper against his chest.

That was when I felt it... a miniscule surge of mana. So faint that even a magus from the Age of Gods like Medea would struggle to detect it.

Click.

The sound resounded clearly in my mind.

One hundred and twenty magic circuits roared to life simultaneously. Emerald geometric grids flared into existence across my skin.

Mana from every circuit flooded my hand with absolute precision. My fingers ceased to rest on his chest, dissolving past the skin and sinking halfway into a metaphysical space existing between his sternum.

I closed my grip around the anomaly deep within the metaphysical space and pulled.

Every magic circuit roared with exertion. The object fought back, an immovable anchor refusing to be dislodged from its host. I strained against the resistance, the tension mounting,

Until Medea moved.

A jagged, ceremonial dagger—a blade with no edge—plunged into the metaphysical gap between Shirou's sternum.

« This is a sword of negation and betrayal. It nullifies every kind of magecraft in the world. »

Medea's voice echoed through the connection.

"Rule... Breaker."

The binding shattered. The connection between Shirou and the object within him was instantly severed by Medea's Noble Phantasm.

[Rule Breaker]; an Anti-Magecraft Noble Phantasm.

A ceremonial dagger capable of dispelling and destroying any magecraft in existence, breaking contracts, and severing even the tether between a Master and their Servant.

.

I pulled once again.

A radiant sheath emerged from the metaphysical space between Shirou's sternum.

It was a luxurious construct of gold and blue enamel, appearing less like a weapon and more like a ceremonial treasure—a crown or staff—designed to exhibit dignity and nobility.

I did not attempt to analyze the scabbard's internal mechanics. Its mere presence suggested a complexity far beyond my current foundational knowledge of magecraft.

However, I could still deduce its origin.

[Ultimate Anthropologist] activated instantly, cross-referencing the aesthetic, structure, and runes carved along its spine against global mythologies.

Golden radiance. Blue enamel.

There was only one culture historically obsessed with this combination of gold and royal blue, intertwined with the legends of their kings.

The most famous hero of Britain, King Arthur, possessed a scabbard for his Holy Sword Excalibur...

Avalon.

Legend claimed that as long as the King held the sheath, he was immortal and could heal from any injury.

This sheath had provided Shirou with minor regeneration despite receiving no active mana supply.

The deduction was clear.

It was Avalon.

The sheath of Excalibur.

Belonging to Arthur Pendragon.

[Ultimate Inventor]: Miu Iruma's Talent. Izuru is the best inventor known to Earth, as he has the perfect information of invention researches and he has perfect knowledge of every invention known to humanity, which makes him an exceptional super genius.

[Ultimate Physiologist]: In the area of physiology and human body. Izuru alone could push the world 100s of years ahead of it's time. He therefore, intimately knows the inner workings of a human body, better than many top class surgeons.

[Shell Projection]: A variant of Projection. Shell Projections are autonomous and able to operate more accurately and for a longer duration that normal Projections. Basically... psuedo-alive projections. A practitioner had once used Shell Projection to create a handheld Gryphon to use as their familiar.

[Noble Phantasm: Rule Breaker]: A dagger that nullifies all effects created by magecraft, despite whether such an effect is an enchantment, a relationship formed through contract, or even life created through magical energy. Once it comes into contact with the above, they will all be returned to their original components in a state "before they were made."

Note: Does not work on other Noble Phantasms.

[Beast Will]: Similar to beast will from The Beginning After The End. Created by combining [Body Reinforcement] and [Shell Projection] to project false features like fake dragon scales over a humans body.
