Chapter 16 - Beast Vs Pegasus

VROOOOOM!

We tore through Fuyuki's night, weaving past one vehicle after another as the scenery blurred into a shifting canvas of light and shadows.

220. 250. 300.

R1's engine roared with abandon beneath us. Fuel and air compressed within its chambers, ignited by spark plugs into a rapid succession of controlled explosions.

My magic circuits blazed in response, tracing a path through my body and across R1. I poured mana directly into the magic circles embedded in its augmented components, pushing its engine to the absolute limit.

VROOOOOOOM!

...

We surged forward...

And the world was left behind.

...

..

.

Matou manor.

Nearby.

I decelerated as we approached our destination, bringing my bike to a halt a short distance away from its entrance.

As the engine's roar faded into silence, I addressed Artoria behind me, her arms still wrapped around my waist.

"I will proceed alone from here. Follow in your spirit form." My voice was flat, my mind already calculating the high probability of Matou family possessing a Servant.

"But, Master—"

"You can materialize if I encounter danger." I cut her off, my tone indifferent.

"...Alright." Artoria fell silent for a moment, then dematerialized from behind me to follow in spirit form.

I twisted the throttle, and R1's tires rolled forward once again toward Matou manor, this time at a controlled speed.

Just as I was closing in on Matou manor, I applied the brakes, bringing R1 to a sudden stop.

Ahead of me stood a blindfolded woman.

She possessed very long purple hair reaching her lower back, accompanied by a tall and statuesque build. Her figure was mature, curvaceous, and athletic. A choker was wrapped around her neck, accompanied by a black, form-fitting bodysuit with detached, long black sleeves and black thigh-high boots.

A unique pair of weapons resembling giant metal stakes attached to long, retractable chains rested in her hands.

I studied her blindfolded face. She "looked" back at me with uncanny precision.

We spoke in unison.

"Master?" Her voice was low, suspicious.

"Servant." Mine was flat, a statement of fact.

.

Master. Should I help? Artoria's voice resonated in my mind through our connection.

Not yet. I replied back.

The purple-haired Servant began walking toward me a moment later.

I kept the brakes engaged. My other hand twisting the accelerator.

GRRRRR.

Tires of my bike skid across the ground, smoke rising from where the back tire ground against asphalt.

Her walk shifted into a sprint, her movements blurring as she reached subsonic speed in moments.

I responded by releasing the brakes. R1 surged forward, the accumulated force causing its front tire to rise off ground.

My actions did not cease as I balanced R1 on its back tire alone, accelerating toward her without hesitation.

We reached each other in an instant.

She swung her metal stake toward me.

My free hand came down from the handle, aimed at her from above.

[Gradation Air] boomed to life.

A pure white Desert Eagle chambered in .454 Casull materialized in my hand, aimed directly at her.

I pulled the trigger.

BOOOM!

A bullet tore out of its chamber, yet... she reacted instinctively.

Clang-BOOM!

Stake and bullet collided with a deafening crash. Their impact pushing her five steps back, while R1 continued on its trajectory, its front tire slamming onto the ground as I drifted into a turn.

However... My eyes widened for a moment when I looked back at her.

She had pierced her own neck with her stake-chain, blood spurting out of the wound.

Yet... she did not die from her actions.

Instead, a luminescent and completely white horse materialized from her blood. It was absolute white with a pure body, hair, wings, hooves, and eyes of a singular color.

She mounted that mythical beast from bygone era with ease, looking back at me with a stoic face.

VROOOOOM!

R1 howled. Its void-black color a stark contrast against the pure white Pegasus standing against us.

NEEEEIIIIGH!

The mythical creature neighed in response.

Bike and horse stood opposed.

We moved at the same time.

I banked the bike leftward, and her Pegasus followed at once.

Our rides began to run parallel to one another, heading toward a district with more space for maneuvering.

Her Pegasus accelerated first, running faster and faster. My bike followed, moving side-by-side with the mythical beast.

A machine and a legend raced across the abandoned roads of Fuyuki.

...

..

.

A white and black blur dashed and intersected across the road.

My free hand held a pure white Desert Eagle.

Rider wielded her stake-chains.

My body shifted, moving with the automatic precision of a master weapon specialist. I didn't need to aim; geometry, recoil patterns, and wind speed were all already calculated and accounted for in my mind.

I pulled the trigger, firing at her Pegasus's leg without aiming. She deflected it with her weapon before it could touch the creature.

Rider retaliated a moment later, throwing her stake-chain toward me. I maneuvered R1 with a sudden jerk followed by an immediate burst of speed.

In response to my maneuver, Rider stood on the back of her Pegasus, throwing her chains at me mid-movement.

"Double Accel."

My voice resonated as a thin boundary field enveloped my skin.

My personal time twisted, moving twice as fast as the world.

I tilted the bike aside; her stake-chains missing me by a millimeter.

Rider's Pegasus took a sudden left afterwards, forcing R1 to take a sharp right.

Both the bike and Pegasus rushed faster and faster up an uphill road, an acute bend looming ahead.

I leaned R1 closer to the ground, its back tire drifting through the turn, leaving tire marks in its wake.

Her Pegasus flapped its wings, using the momentum generated from them to follow my drift.

We drifted side-by-side, our speeds too great for the curve, threatening to send us both careening off road.

Rider's Pegasus hugged the outer edge mid-turn. My hand came up in response, the pistol dissolving into particles mid-motion, replaced by an anti-materiel shotgun in my grip.

BOOOM!

I fired at her Pegasus without mercy.

NEEEIIIIGHHH!

The creature cried out as, It and Rider were knocked off the turn, blasted away by a point-blank anti-materiel shotgun shell mid-drift.

Meanwhile, the recoil pushed my bike back on track, stabilizing my drift.

Any normal being would have been finished by a fall from that height.

Yet... I knew.

It was not over.

.

Sure enough...

The sound of wings flapping soon echoed in my ears.

A white Pegasus flew back up, its wings spread to their limits.

Rider gazed down at me from her Pegasus' back, a faint curve on her lips.

I looked back up at her.

My expression remained unchanged.

...

Her Pegasus soared across the sky.

R1 roared on the ground.

Our night was far from over.

[Authors Thoughts]

This was my first time writing something like this...

How was it?

...

For anyone wondering, Medusa is a rider, so she can summon a Pegasus to ride if she wants. As for her Noble Phantasm Bellerophon? It's the saddle used in tandem with a Pegasus to force that mythical beast to attack since Pegasus are generally mild natured and don't attack anyone.
