Back in Iris's house, the silence around her felt suffocating. Her eyes were cold, devoid of sanity as a broken laugh escaped her lips.
If she couldn't have Adrian, then no one would.
Her thumb hovered over her contact list for only a second before she made her choice. Without hesitation, she dialed Maya.
The phone rang twice before Maya picked up. "Hello, Iris?"
Iris took a slow breath, forcing her voice to stay calm. "Maya… I'm sorry for calling so late. Will you be at your place tomorrow? I need to see you about something important."
There was a brief pause on the other end. "Important?" Maya asked, her curiosity growing. "Can't you tell me over the phone?"
"No," Iris replied. "It's not something to discuss over the phone. It's better if we sit down and talk about it properly in person."
Maya sighed. "Alright then. I'll expect you tomorrow. See you then, Iris."
