The staircase was lined with a trail of fresh, fragrant flower petals. His breath caught as he started down, his eyes lifting toward the living room.
It had been completely transformed.
Both the living room and dining area were filled with gifts, piles of neatly stacked boxes covering one side. In the center stood a massive bouquet, so large it looked like a garden of its own.
And above it all, glowing brightly against the wall in bold, elegant letters, were the words:
WILL YOU BE MY BOYFRIEND?
Adrian's legs felt like jelly. He turned to Matteo, his eyes shining with tears. He rushed into Matteo's arms, burying his face in his chest. "Thank you," he sobbed happily. "I thought..."
"You thought I'd ask without preparing anything?" Matteo teased gently, pulling back to look at him.
Adrian nodded, a tear tracking down his cheek.
Matteo wiped it away with his thumb. "You mean more to me than just 'something' for pleasure, Adrian. You are my everything."
