The terrifying sound broke Kevin completely. His eyes snapped open in absolute horror, and he screamed at the top of his lungs, "Please! Don't kill me! I'll speak! I'll tell you everything!"
Matteo didn't lower the weapon an inch. "Start speaking," he commanded, his voice raw and lethal.
Kevin looked up, his gaze darting frantically from Matteo to Mark, and then to the wall of heavily armed bodyguards surrounding him.
The reality of his situation finally crashed down, and his entire body began to shake violently. He opened his mouth, but his throat was so dry from panic that no words came out. He didn't even know where to start.
Matteo stared down at him, disappointment flashing briefly through his eyes before it was swallowed by disgust.
"I thought you were my friend. That's the part I can't get past. I don't trust people, Kevin. I never have. But I trusted you enough to let you into my home."
He shook his head.
