"I assume you're crying out of joy because you're finally leaving these stone walls, Luna," Alpha Samuel said with a polite smile.
I hadn't expected to see the elderly Alpha at my door. I hurriedly placed my hairbrush—which Varg had insisted be inlaid with jewels and sapphires despite being made of boxwood—onto the bed.
"Uncle..." I said, standing up at his entrance.
"I am long past the age of baring teeth and commanding you to rise with an Alpha voice," he said with a small chuckle. "Sit, child, before I recall my old days of glory and start plotting a rebellion..."
"Uncle," I said, averting my tearful eyes from him. "Are you coming to the wedding too?"
"The Council will be there," Samuel said, gritting his teeth. "Considering Varg's uncontrollable behavior, I must be there to ensure he doesn't tear Kael to pieces a few weeks before your own ceremony... so, yes."
