The power of my Dragon Wings when I'm moving at full speed is immense. Even my own defenses might not withstand it, Garos thought to himself.
The Earthstorm Bear's armor, though rock-like in texture, was harder than ordinary steel. The armor on its arms was especially thick, and its skin, flesh, bones, and fur were all exceptionally tough.
Yet even with all that protection, Garos' Dragon Wings had severed its arm in a single strike.
Throughout the brief encounter, he hadn't felt even the slightest resistance or hesitation.
Sweeping through the air in an arc, Garos' claws left long, deep gouges in the ground. He landed firmly on the other side, then immediately crouched down, the muscles beneath his dragon scales tensing like coiled steel wires as they erupted with raw power.
His Dragon Wings accelerated.
Garos charged across the ground, each step shattering the earth beneath him. The razor-sharp edges of his Dragon Wings sliced through trees in his path with devastating force, his momentum and ferocity far surpassing that of a young dragon. He lunged toward the Earthstorm Bear once more.
This battle was primarily a test of his Dragon Wings' strength.
As for self-sacrificing skills like Great Wilderness Dragonfall, Garos had already mastered them long ago.
A searing pain erupted from the stump where his arm had been severed. Facing the overwhelming dragon might of the dragonkind, the Earthstorm Bear's innate ferocity evaporated. Instead of roaring, he let out a whimper.
Then...
Garos, charging at full speed, attempting to cleave the Earthstorm Bear in two with his dragon wings, was startled to see the bear suddenly collapse to the ground with a whimper. It cowered, offering no further resistance, its rear end raised and head lowered almost completely into the dirt.
Whoosh!
Just as the young dragon was about to collide with the bear, he abruptly pulled up.
Garos soared upward, executed a mid-air turn, and landed steadily, choosing not to kill the Earthstorm Bear.
Sensing the cessation of the wind and the fading of the dragon might, the Earthstorm Bear cautiously raised its head to watch the young dragon approaching step by step.
"Wua wala!"
A whimpering sound escaped its lips, its eyes conveying a human-like mixture of obsequiousness and fear.
Demonic beasts, especially those like the Earthstorm Bear, possess intelligence comparable to humans, classifying them as intelligent creatures. They are naturally capable of speaking the giant language.
Giants are the sworn enemies of dragonkind.
As the saying goes: "The one who knows you best is always your enemy."
The dragon heritage contained the giant language, which Garos could understand.
"O noble giant dragon, please spare me"—this was likely the meaning of the Earthstorm Bear's words.
"The heritage says that Earthstorm Bears are fearless, daring to fiercely attack even dragons. I don't know about the others, but this Earthstorm Bear seems quite different from the descriptions. It seems the dragon heritage can't be fully trusted."
Garos gazed at the Earthstorm Bear, lost in thought.
"But the battle was too brief. I still haven't fully tested the strength of my dragon wings."
His dragon eyes narrowed, a dangerous glint flashing within them.
The Earthstorm Bear, keenly sensing this, immediately buried itself in the soil like an ostrich, trembling violently. Its attitude was clear: "Kill me if you want; I won't resist or even watch."
Seeing this, Garos lost his desire to kill.
He had no familiar yet. Perhaps this Earthstorm Bear could be tamed.
He stepped forward.
Garos gently tapped the Earthstorm Bear's head with his clawed hand.
The bear flinched in fear, then slowly raised its head, meeting Garos's calm, unflinching gaze.
"Choose to submit, and I will give you a chance to live."
Garos spoke in slightly halting giant language: "It is my honor."
The Earthstorm Bear nodded vigorously, like a chick pecking for grain, accepting the offer decisively. Garos's strength had thoroughly intimidated it.
An Earthstorm Bear living alone in the wilderness wasn't ignorant. Though it couldn't identify Garos's exact dragonkind, his size clearly marked him as a young dragon. Initially, the bear had been bold, showing no fear, but the moment they clashed, it lost an arm. After a few more blows, it was certain it would die.
After a brief exchange, Garos learned the Earthstorm Bear's name—Mobel, a male of his kind.
Having saved its life, the Earthstorm Bear retrieved its severed arm and pressed it against the wound. Earthy energy swirled around it, temporarily reattaching the limb. The bear's regenerative abilities were strong; with time, the arm would heal and function again.
"Are there any demonic beasts around here who are about your level or slightly stronger? I haven't had my fill of battle yet," Garos asked the Earthstorm Bear.
The bear nodded and pointed its clawed paw southward. "In that direction, a Crimson Phosphor Serpent resides. I've fought it many times; we're evenly matched."
As the Earthstorm Bear spoke, a gleam of malice flashed in its eyes, its expression filled with schadenfreude.
The Crimson Phosphor Serpent was its mortal enemy. The two had clashed repeatedly over territory and resources, leaving the Earthstorm Bear scarred with numerous old wounds inflicted by the serpent.
"Lead the way," Garos commanded.
The bear immediately lumbered southward, its massive paws pounding against the ground. Following its lead, Garos swiftly located the Crimson Phosphor Serpent's lair.
The serpent coiled around a Giant Sequoia, its body nearly as thick as the tree itself, its scales blazing crimson.
Like the Earthstorm Bear, it was a level 8 creature.
Unlike the bear, however, the Crimson Phosphor Serpent was a ferocious beast with little intelligence.
Locking onto his target, the young dragon tensed every muscle as he soared a hundred meters above. Spreading his razor-sharp wings, he swooped down with a roar, hurtling toward the serpent.
Less than a minute later, as the dragon wings swept past, the serpent's massive head shot skyward, blood spraying down like a crimson rain that splattered across Garos, enhancing his ferocious aura.
"Even a level 8 ferocious beast or demonic beast doesn't stand a chance against me."
Garos shook his dragon wings, flinging blood from their surface.
Though he could fight creatures above his life grade with such ease, he felt no arrogant pride. Dragons were naturally among the most powerful demonic beasts; such feats were only to be expected.
Life grade was merely a reference, incapable of truly measuring combat strength.
Garos deeply understood that arrogance and pride were the greatest sins that led to the downfall of dragonkind. He couldn't let temporary power blind him.
Moreover, he wasn't truly powerful. In this wilderness, he could barely manage self-defense. To be able to act without restraint, to do whatever he pleased without consequence—that was still a distant dream.
For starters, a few slaps from the iron dragon maid would be enough to crush him.
And even the iron dragon maid, a fully grown giant dragon, wasn't considered a true ruler in the Sierre Wilderness.
Shortly after, Garos left the Earthstorm Bear behind in the area and returned to his Heavenly Pit Territory alone.
The reason was simple.
Given the iron dragon maid's nature, she wouldn't tolerate an uncontrolled Earthstorm Bear in her territory. She would forcibly enslave it, since Garos hadn't performed a dragon blood transformation on it.
Dragon Blood Transformation is a process where dragons bestow their essence upon other creatures, transforming them into loyal dragon blood creatures bound to the dragon's will.
Unlike some who prioritize their familiars, Garos focused more on himself. Still a young dragon in his rapid growth phase, he knew that sharing his essence would slow his development. He wouldn't let a single familiar hinder his progress.
The Earthstorm Bear, untransformed by dragon blood, might not truly submit and could ignore Garos' commands to flee.
However, survival in the wilderness was harsh and fraught with dangers. Even Garos had to be cautious. Demonic beasts like the Earthstorm Bear, unless driven by desperation, would rarely leave their familiar territories.
Even if it did escape, it wouldn't matter much. Conquering familiars was a trivial task for Garos; he held them in little regard. At worst, he'd kill it next time they met, but if they never crossed paths again, he wouldn't care.
Moreover, the choice was clear: a perilous life of wandering in the wilderness or the support of a powerful, exceptionally potent dragon.
With the intelligence of an Earthstorm Bear, Garos knew exactly what to choose.
When they returned to the Heavenly Pit Territory, the sky was still bright, the sun radiating its usual scorching heat.
"Garos, Mother wants us all to go to its dragon nest together."
As soon as they landed on the cliff edge, the two hatchlings approached Garos. More accurately, they were now young dragons.
After a year, the red dragon sister and iron dragon brother had grown significantly in size and had reached the young dragon stage.
"To summon all three of us at once... It's been a long time since this happened. I wonder what Mother needs to tell us."
The red dragon sister blinked curiously.
"Heh heh, maybe Mother prepared a delicious blood feast for us to share together!"
The iron dragon brother tilted his head, cheerfully speculating.
Two fools. Have they already forgotten what happened to me a year ago?
Garos shook his head slightly.
He remained silent, flying towards the iron dragon maid's dragon nest. The two young dragons eagerly followed, their excitement palpable.
