Chapter 153 - Weaknesses

Translator: AnubisTL

In the heat of battle, Garos was overwhelmed by the dragon hunters' relentless assault. His explosive scales were quickly exhausted, revealing his black-and-crimson scales, already scarred by blades, axes, and arrows.

The dragon hunters were astonished by Garos's resilience and ferocity.

The ordinary juvenile dragon was now a corpse.

This hybrid dragon was truly extraordinary, possessing unimaginable physical strength—even surpassing that of the adult black dragon they had hunted before. However, being young, it lacked advanced quasi-spell skills.

Moreover, its strange layer of scales had been shattered, leaving it on the brink of collapse.

"The anti-dragon hybrid toxin should be taking effect! Now's our chance to cripple it!" the magic potion expert shouted.

Garos felt a tingling numbness spreading through his body, his mouth and nose drying out, and his vision blurring slightly.

Yet beyond these minor effects, the toxin had little impact on him.

"My evolved resistance, developed through adaptation to the cliff serpent dragon's venom, has weakened the hybrid toxin's effects," Garos reasoned, his mind remaining clear despite the relentless assault.

In that instant, he grasped the reason for his limited reaction.

His eyes flickered briefly, and his steps began to falter, his attacks and defenses growing sluggish.

Seizing the opportunity, the three melee-specialist dragon hunters unleashed a storm of ferocious strikes, carving deep wounds across the juvenile dragon's body.

The bloodrage berserker was the most reckless among them.

Seeing the juvenile dragon becoming sluggish and its threat greatly diminished, the berserker leaped onto Garos's back and swung his battleaxe fiercely at the dragon's spine.

In that instant...

"You fell for it!"

A dangerous smirk curled Garos's lips.

He allowed the berserker to hack through his scales, but the moment the axe blade touched flesh, he contracted his muscles, clamping the weapon in place.

Zzzzt! Zzzzt!

A crackling, electrifying sound erupted as dense, shimmering golden lightning surged from Garos's body, coiling around him like a blazing mane. The dragon's majestic, ferocious aura banished all traces of his earlier vulnerability.

Stimulated by the lightning, Garos's muscles swelled and contracted, tightening like steel cables. His entire body expanded visibly, and arcs of electricity leaping from his scales struck the berserker, paralyzing him with searing pain and causing violent spasms.

The berserker first tried to yank his axe free, but when he failed, he attempted to flee.

It was too late.

The red-iron dragon's true ferocity erupted. He threw back his head and roared, his dragon wings—sharp as guillotines—whipped around in a sudden, massive arc, forcing back the paladin and war priest. In a swift maneuver, Garos flipped over, pinning the berserker to the ground as his dragon claw clamped down on the warrior's upper body.

"You worm! Die!" Garos roared.

Flame Claw!

Flames erupted from his iron-clad dragon claw, merging with golden lightning to form flame lightning. With a crackling burst, the flame lightning pierced through the berserker's layers of armor, crushing his body into a bloody pulp.

The sudden shift in the battle made the dragon hunters' pupils contract.

They never imagined this juvenile dragon could be so cunning and powerful. Instead of targeting the spellcaster, beast hunter, or magic potion expert, it had focused on the seemingly unkillable berserker.

Now, Garos was wreathed in golden lightning, his attributes surging. He held his own even against multiple attackers simultaneously.

The spellcaster's control spells were reduced to mere moments.

The shadow assassin dared not approach.

The beast hunter's arm nearly snapped from drawing his bow, yet his arrow rain struggled to penetrate Garos's hardened scales, managing only to briefly restrain him with weak point attacks.

"Kenneth! Did you miscalculate the poison's activation time?!" the paladin roared between clashes with the frenzied juvenile dragon.

"I... I don't know. I don't think so."

The magic potion expert's voice trembled, cut short by a thunderous roar.

Before the roar erupted, Garos had already shoved past the paladin and war priest, charging straight toward the beast hunter.

"Your turn!"

Before the red-iron dragon, the ranger-branch hunter's pupils constricted. He released an arrow, but instead of targeting Garos, it angled sharply to the side.

In the instant his body was crushed by a claw, he vanished in a flicker, teleporting to the arrow embedded in the steps above.

"That was close!"

The beast hunter gasped for breath, his spirit still taut from the near-death experience.

But before he could even register his relief, a golden flash caught his eye.

Boom!

A spherical blast of flame lightning breath pierced the air, slamming into the beast hunter. Lightning and flames instantly engulfed him, reducing him to ash.

The shadow assassin tried to seize the opportunity for a sneak attack, but Garos, now moving with blinding speed, caught her instantly, crushing her with a single sweep of his dragon wing.

Garos exhaled, qi surging through his dragon wings, and unleashed his full speed without restraint.

Garos slammed his hind legs against the ground, wings beating furiously, and charged toward the spellcaster without hesitation.

From the moment Garos entered his frenzy state, the spellcaster had been continuously chanting and constructing the same shadow spell. The surrounding space had become saturated with a dense, dark aura, triggering Garos's instincts to sense imminent danger.

Boom!

The red-iron dragon struck in an instant, his claws shattering the spellcaster and Viscount Ironthorn.

Yet there was no blood, no sensation of crushing bone.

They were merely lifelike illusions.

The true spellcaster and viscount appeared at the highest point of the platform. The spellcaster's incantation now surged with heightened intensity, like a torrential rain battering a lake's surface, reaching its final stage.

"Damn it! My senses failed to detect their true forms." Garos's eyes narrowed.

He needed to find other ways to compensate for his sensory weaknesses. Relying solely on the enhancement from fairy scale powder was too slow!

"Myriad Prayers, King of Battle!"

"Tempus, the invincible, the undefeated!"

"May the great war god descend with his divine might to annihilate all evil!"

The war priest raised his war sword and holy shield simultaneously, bellowing a prayer.

His face suddenly drained of color, turning deathly pale, and his body staggered uncontrollably. Blood streamed from his seven orifices, yet his expression remained unwavering, filled with unprecedented piety.

Blade of Judgment!

A pure white light materialized, coalescing inch by inch in the sky, towering above the arena's crimson barrier. It seemed to originate from another realm, radiating an indescribable pressure.

The colossal blade gradually solidified.

A massive, indistinct phantom gripped the Blade of Judgment and plunged it toward Garos.
