Chapter 179 - Awakening and Growth

Translator: AnubisTL

The red dragon's contempt ignited White Dragon Treacy's fury.

"You brainless, muscle-bound redskin! Taste the frost!"

The sixteen-meter-long ferocious beast roared, its dragon wings whipping up icy winds as its claws shattered the ground. Like a white frost star erupting from the earth, it lunged toward the red dragon.

Compared to the nearly mature white dragon, Red Dragon Samantha's twelve-meter frame seemed diminutive. Though her proportions were robust rather than the white dragon's slender build, she still lacked the sheer bulk of Garos and was overall inferior in size.

However, the young red dragon's arrogance far surpassed her physical strength.

She genuinely despised the white dragon, viewing it as a mere beast with superficial power. Fearless and refusing to call for Garos's aid, she lowered her head, wagged her tail, and flapped her wings, channeling her qi into her body. With a thunderous roar, she charged headlong to meet the white dragon's assault.

Garos watched the clash between the two female dragons silently, making no move to intervene.

Under his gaze, the crimson and white dragon shadows collided savagely.

The ground cracked, and shockwaves rippled outward.

The white dragon shadow shuddered violently but remained rooted in place, while the red dragon shadow was flung backward like a torn sack, tumbling hundreds of meters across the ground and carving a long, scorched trench before finally coming to a halt.

Pah!

Samantha spat out the mouthful of dirt.

The Red Dragon Samantha staggered to her feet, baring her teeth. A palpable, almost tangible fury surged across her face. Being knocked back by a White Dragon she despised in a direct confrontation was an unbearable humiliation.

Across from her, the victorious White Dragon Treacy reveled in her triumph, feeling as refreshed as if she had been doused in ice water on a sweltering day.

"Foolish red-skinned creature," Treacy declared, raising her head proudly. "I am Pale Wing, already nearing adulthood. You should offer the respect of the weak to the strong!"

Treacy considered pressing her advantage, but a sidelong glance at the silent red-iron dragon made her hesitate. She detected a similar scent on both the red dragon and the hybrid dragon, suggesting a bloodline connection between these evil dragons. Perhaps they had been exiled together and grown up supporting each other, their bond likely strong.

"Vile White Scale! I'll break every bone in your body!"

Provoked by Treacy's taunts, the Red Dragon's fury intensified.

Her vivid crimson scales began to glow one by one, alchemical runes flickering visibly across their surfaces, enhancing her defense and strength. Tiny runes also lit up on her claws, granting them armor-piercing and fortification properties.

Her dragon wings flapped, runes glowing on their membranes, propelling her forward with explosive speed as she charged toward the white dragon once more.

Across the battlefield, the white dragon glanced at Garos.

Garos remained impassive, offering a slight nod to reassure her that she needn't concern herself with him.

White Dragon Treacy grinned, turning to face the red dragon head-on.

The two dragons clashed again, their battle escalating beyond brute force to incorporate their unique skills.

Ice Armor!

The crystalline armor, capable of significantly weakening even Garos's claw strikes, encased the white dragon's body. When the red dragon's alchemically enhanced claws struck, they could only create hairline cracks, failing to shatter the armor. Instead, her claws went numb with icy cold.

"Let me teach you some dragon etiquette!" Treacy's right claw, radiating the chilling aura of a millennia-old glacier, slammed down.

Samantha barely dodged the strike, only to be swept off her feet by the dragon's tail.

Boom! The red dragon's vaunted scales shattered like glass, the defensive runes etched upon them collapsing one by one. Cracked scales flew off as her body staggered backward.

The pain only fueled the red dragon's fury.

Her eyes bloodshot, she roared and lunged at the white dragon.

However, Samantha's rage didn't amplify her power; instead, it clouded her judgment, weakened her control over the alchemical runes, and left her vulnerable with glaring openings.

White Dragon Treacy was the formidable dragon who had once forced Garos into his frenzy state. Her combat experience far surpassed that of Red Dragon Samantha.

As the red dragon's fury intensified, Treacy grew even more composed, showing no urgency to defeat her outright. Instead, she toyed with Samantha, humiliating her like a plaything.

Garos observed the battle without intervening.

After being exiled and experiencing the harsh realities of the wilderness, Red Dragon Samantha had initially tempered her arrogance, suppressing her fiery temper with reason. But as time passed, her pride gradually resurfaced, reverting her to the typical red dragon temperament—arrogant and overconfident, yet lacking the strength to match her hubris.

Under Garos's watchful gaze, the battle remained under control.

For Samantha, being thoroughly beaten by the white dragon she despised was ultimately beneficial.

Garos had never felt superior or proud of his bloodline. He firmly believed that true strength didn't stem from lineage; rather, bloodlines should take pride in their strong members. Those who basked in the perceived superiority of their bloodline without possessing corresponding power would inevitably bring about their own downfall.

A few minutes later, the white dragon's Frost Dragon Breath forcefully suppressed Samantha's Flaming Dragon Breath, pushing it back against her.

In a moment of peril, the red dragon hastily dodged, but the Frost Dragon Breath still grazed her body, encasing her in a thick layer of ice that slowed her movements.

Immediately afterward, the sixteen-meter-long adult white dragon fully extended her wings, casting a complete shadow over the young red dragon.

With a single dive, White Dragon Treacy pinned the red dragon beneath her, who was too slow to evade. The red dragon struggled, but her efforts were futile. Covered in icy frost, her limbs frozen, and her chest crushed beneath the white dragon's claws, she was utterly defeated.

Only when completely subdued did the ice-cold red dragon regain consciousness. She turned her head toward Garos, pleading for his intervention, but he remained unmoved.

"Now, what should you call me?" Treacy asked, her claw tips gently tracing Samantha's visor.

"White Scale! You vile—"

Before she could finish, Treacy's slender tail coiled around the red dragon's neck and tightened abruptly, choking her with suffocating pain.

After a few seconds, the white dragon relaxed her tail and repeated the question: "What should you call me?"

"White Scale!"

The moment the words escaped her lips, the tail tightened around her neck again, cutting off her air.

Ten seconds later, the white dragon relaxed her tail again, repeating her question to the violently coughing red dragon: "What should you call me?"

Samantha remained silent.

The white dragon's massive body pressed down on her like a mountain, making it impossible to rise and resist. The bone-chilling cold threatened to freeze her blood. Before this moment, she had never imagined the white dragon could be so powerful.

"...Lady White Dragon Treacy," the red dragon forced out between clenched teeth.

Refusing to use honorifics was her last act of defiance.

White Dragon Treacy snorted coldly, her expression softening as she released the red dragon. "Juvenile dragon," she said, "show me more respect in the future. You have no right to call me White Scale."

The red dragon's chest heaved violently, her scales now duller than before.

The fact that she had been defeated by White Scale filled her with shame and resentment.

At that moment, Garos approached slowly, his claws crunching through the frozen crystals on the ground with a crisp, brittle sound.

"Samantha," the red-iron dragon said in a deep, steady voice, "defeat is merely a scratch on your dragon scale." He lightly tapped the red dragon's broken scales with the tip of his tail. "What truly matters is whether you can use this wound to forge even tougher scales."

"If you wish to belittle Treacy as a 'White Scale,' to call her lowly and insignificant, fine. That's not the issue."

"But you must at least be stronger than her to earn that right."

The truth was undeniable, and Samantha, capable of understanding Garos's words, fell into deep thought.

Though she preferred solving problems with brute force and disliked using her mind, red dragons were actually highly intelligent. Every renowned red dragon was both cunning and ferocious.

Having learned her lesson, Samantha roughly grasped Garos's meaning.

"Dear brother, I understand now."

With that, she turned to White Dragon Treacy and declared bluntly, "Treacy, I will now respect you and address you as 'White Dragon.' I will no longer insult you, but this is only because you are currently stronger than me."

"However, your sole advantage is your age."

"As time passes, I will surpass you and leave you in my dust."

The white dragon bared her teeth, refusing to back down. "Poor little dragon," she sneered, "even so, nothing can change the fact that I once crushed you beneath my claws."

Unexpectedly, Red Dragon Samantha showed no anger.

"You're right. I will never forget that."
