Chapter 27 - Chapter 26 - Bonding 2

After that they got up and went to the pool tables. Vanessa walked up to Travis with Victoria shortly behind.

"Hey, so I've got my sister here, you've got yours, should we see which set of siblings is better?" She asked.

Tay appeared on his side and put her hand on his shoulder. "Oh I'm down. Us Millers dont back down from a challenge. Go ahead and pick a table and reserve it for a couple games, we will grab our cues. And we'll even be so generous as to let you break."

"Oho, pretty confident are we?" Victoria asked.

"Well of course. It's only natural since we're the better." Travis replied with a smile

The two sisters grabbed pool sticks and chose a table, reserving it for 3 games. The Millers chose their own cues more carefully, inspecting each of them for warping and signs of wear and tear. After finding suitable ones, they joined the others at a table, where Vanessa was lifting the triangle, all the balls racked neatly.

Victoria chose to make her shot from the corner, breaking the balls neatly, but not making any in. Taylor smiled at Travis. "You want to clean this up? Or should I?" She asked.

"Go for it, I'll take next game." He told her.

"Next game? Pretty arrogant, no?" Victoria asked.

"Watch." Travis told her, gesturing to the table. They all watched as Taylor sank the 1 ball.

"We're solids." Then with uncanny accuracy, she sank shot after shot, until all that was left was the 8 ball, which was on the opposite side of the table from her, a few inches from the rail near the center.

"This one." She called, pointing to the corner pocket she was standing right behind. She shot the cue ball, bounced the 8 ball off the rail and right back towards her, sinking it perfectly into the pocket she had indicated.

Then, just to show off a little more, she sunk all the stripes too.

"What in the ever loving fuck was that." Vanessa asked, eyes wide in shock.

"Go ahead and re-rack them. We'll let you break again." Taylor said smiling.

"No, you break. You won after all." Victoria said.

"Its your funeral." Travis told the girls as he walked over, set the cue ball down, and took his shot. Off the break he made two stripes. Then he proceeded to sink every ball after that, not wanting to be out done by his little sister. He sunk the 8 ball into one of the side pockets, then made all the solids as well.

"What the hell is wrong with you two?" Vanessa asked.

"Our parents owned a bar, so we spent a lot of time there as kids. You pick up a trick or two after that many years." Travis told her.

"We are also amazing at darts, cup pong, and drink mixing." Taylor added.

"Ok for the last game we should change the teams. Me and Travis, Victoria and Taylor." Vanessa said.

"Sure." all three agreed quickly.

"So who goes first?" Victoria asked.

"Coin flip." The Millers said simultaneously.

"Heads." Taylor said immediately after.

They flipped a coin, and it was indeed heads.

"Tay and Travis, you guys should go second so we have a chance to play." Victoria said, getting ready to break.

"Sure, I'll still win regardless of who goes first. She's never beaten me."

Victoria broke, and she made a solid. Then she sunk another one. As she took aim at the third, Taylor stopped her.

"Line up the ball with the pocket, then hit the ball where the line crosses it." She turned the ball so the number faced directly towards the pocket. "Hit it right on the number."

Victoria did, and sank it. When she went for her fourth, she messed up the angle slightly and bounced off the corner.

"My turn!" Vanessa practically bounced to the table. She had been listening to Taylor's advice and put it into practice. She sunk two solids in a row. When she tried to line up the third shot, the cue ball was in the way.

"Travis, what do I do?"

"Tilt put your hand up like this." Tavis said, placing his hand on the table with his thumb up and the side of it on the cloth. "Then place the stick on your hand and use your thumb and pointer finger to guide the stick."

She did and sank another shot.

"Hey Trav, I'm pretty sure that was the moment you were supposed to hold her from behind and show her how to do it." Taylor said, with an amused look.

"Maybe, but I'm not here to flirt, I'm here to kick your ass. Besides, I'm not a creep."

"You literally choked her out like two days ago." Taylor retorted

"Yeah, I think we're a little past the hand holding stage at this point. Or is it that you don't want to be that close." Vanessa said with an exaggerated sad face.

"You're both impossible. Lets continue, we can all flirt with someone after Vanessa and I win."

It was a close match, Travis' team barely one because Taylor messed up the last shot on a side pocket.

"Good game, any of you need a refill? Cause I'm out." Travis asked.

"We all need more. Go fetch." Taylor told him, answering for all three of them.

He went over to one of the dart boards where the others were having an intense match. When he asked, all of them asked for another drink as well.

He turned around to head to the bar when William stopped him.

"Hey, Kiara is flirting with me like crazy, think she likes me?" He asked.

"She flirts with everyone she can. I'd say its less that she likes you and more that she doesn't think you're a creep. Of course you could always just ask what her intentions are. She'd tell you."

"Oh..." He said looking dejected. "Are you sure?"

"No." Travis replied honestly. "She's an enigma wrapped in mystery, and I've known her for less than a year. Like I said, the best way to know is to ask."

He walked up to the bar and ordered the next round, and the party continued late into the night.
