Grey moved before "Elowen" could finish drawing more power from the formation, his body cutting sideways as three dark-gold tendrils ripped through the courtyard behind him. He didn't try to outrun them in a straight line, instead moving through the spaces his Resonant Sense had already mapped, shifting just enough each time that stone burst apart where he had been an instant earlier.
The pattern became clearer with every exchange.
A tendril curved toward his left shoulder and Grey let it get close enough to feel the pressure rolling off it before ducking underneath, then used the movement to carry himself forward. Two more snapped down from above, one wide and one narrow, but their timing was wrong, enough that Grey slipped between them and sent a cluster of white-gold threads whipping out from his fingers.
"Elowen" recoiled the moment they touched her.
