The car Shirley Thorne was driving today was very low-key, the kind that even the kitchen helper, Auntie Langley, could afford. However, the interior was fully loaded; the floor mats alone were expensive enough to buy a whole new car.
Shirley Thorne used to look down on this kind of extravagance. 'Wouldn't it be better to just buy a new car with that money?'
'Why go to all that trouble customizing the interior?'
Now, however, she thought differently.
If the car hadn't been so inconspicuous, Phoebe Ainsworth probably would have spotted her when she got out of her own vehicle.
"Florence, did you text Audrey?"
Shirley Thorne's almond-shaped eyes twinkled. She wasn't the least bit worried about Audrey; she was just looking forward to watching the "Audrey Show."
"I did."
Florence Langley handed her phone to Shirley Thorne, showing her the chat on the screen.
Shirley Thorne leaned forward, her eyes widening as she read. And then…
