Susan Langley was overjoyed and left with her vegetable basket. She was confident that Shirley Thorne had a way to get Ethan Grant to the dinner table.
Shirley Thorne said "bye-bye," then turned and went to the study to report the whole thing to Ethan Grant.
"That's strange. Susan Langley never seemed to care whether you ate or not before."
She thought Susan Langley didn't have the brainpower to question whether he was really eating. By her logic, as long as the food went into the study, it was assumed to have been eaten.
"Was it Meredith Rowan?"
Shirley Thorne wasn't surprised that The Mistress Mother was suspicious. What surprised her was the timing. It just felt... off.
She had clearly lived under the same roof as Susan Langley for a long time, yet she had never made this request before.
Ethan Grant explained, "It's probably for a rehearsal."
'Rehearsal?'
