Chloe lowered her head, looking at the small, exquisite black box in Nina's hand.
"What's this?"
Hearing this, Nina quickly explained, "It's a custom-made watch from a master watchmaker in Meridia. You know the guests at the party are all prominent figures. If the gift you give Dad looks cheap, wouldn't his business partners laugh at him?"
With that, she smiled and handed the small box to Chloe. "Give this watch to Dad at the party. He'll be thrilled."
Chloe kept her head down and opened the small black box. "This must have cost you a lot, Sis?"
Nina faltered for a moment, a flicker of triumph in her eyes. "It actually wasn't that expensive, but..."
"Since it wasn't that expensive, I'll just consider it a gift from you to me." A smile bloomed on Chloe's face, making her look quite happy. "Thank you for going to all the trouble of helping me prepare a birthday gift for Dad."
Nina's expression froze.
