"What makes you say that? Does this have anything to do with that assistant who just works for someone else?"
Jolie Yates met Chloe Sinclair's impassive gaze, and a wave of panic washed over her.
She continued, "I'm only 22 this year. I have plenty of time to do research. What right do you have to say I'm going downhill? Even if I never produce another discovery, I'm still better than some assistant who just works for other people!"
Chloe Sinclair hadn't wanted to argue with her, but hearing Jolie Yates's constant refrain of "working for other people" was starting to annoy her.
"The 'assistant' you keep mentioning is the sole executive assistant to the CEO of the Shaw Group. His monthly salary is a million. He got his bachelor's from Emberfall University and went straight into the Ph.D. program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he graduated."
