Mr. Sinclair's heart sank.
He tried to placate her anyway. "Alright, you check the security footage. I'll have the butler and the maids search again."
Chloe Sinclair turned her head, her gaze deep and inscrutable.
Mr. Sinclair opened his mouth to speak, but then thought better of it.
Chloe Sinclair quickly connected to her room's security feed, starting from the previous day. She split the screen into thirty-two separate windows, a dizzying sight.
After just a minute, however, Chloe Sinclair ramped up the playback speed to eight times the normal rate.
Mr. Sinclair stood beside her, astonished. He watched her eyes scan the screens without any sign of strain, but he had to cover his own.
The footage was moving too fast; it strained the eyes.
Suddenly, Chloe Sinclair slammed the pause button.
Mr. Sinclair's gaze immediately shot to the center of the display.
Then, Chloe Sinclair clicked on one of the video windows and switched to slow-motion playback.
