The young girl wakes up to a bright light that slightly burns her pupils before she slowly looks around... She is on a hospital bed in a room that is completely white on all sides.
"Finally!!" A familiar voice shouts beside her...it's her aunt Isabella, who hugs her as soon as she wakes up. "You don't know how worried I was!!" she continues.
Elizabeth looks at her with completely empty eyes. There is only one thing on her mind now, and in a shaky voice, she finally asks, "How is my mother?"
Silence filled the place for a few seconds without a response and...without Isabella even letting go of her embrace...
Elizabeth's wandering eyes grew increasingly blurred before settling on her dear friend who stood a few meters away from her....
Emma stands with her face down on the floor, her eyes brimming with tears. She seems unable to even face her friend, muttering, "The thing is..."
"Why aren't you answering me?"
The young girl speaks in a broken voice, as if the weight of silence is increasing to make Elizabeth's suffering even more...
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU ARE SORRY FOR MY LOSE ?! NO, no... GIVE ME BACK MY WIFE !" Her father's voice immediately pierces her ears from outside the door. It seems as though the nurses are trying to calm him down, but with complete failure.
The words fell upon her mercilessly, piercing her insides like a knife.
Tears began to stream from her aunt's eyes as she hugged her even tighter. "This is not your fault," she said, as if trying to support herself with these words before her sister's daughter, who was trembling with eyes filled with emptiness.
The silence of the room was broken by the creaking of the door. It was a doctor who looked elderly with a kind face, saying, "Excuse me! There is something I must discuss with you, ma'am," addressing Isabella, who was trying to compose herself. "Okay, one moment, please."
"Stay here, Emma."
"No... I want to be alone," Elizabeth whispers, a steady expression etched on the young girl's face , causing both Emma and her aunt to look at each other before her aunt looks towards her, patting her hand. "Okay, we'll let you rest."
"Let's go then."
Speaking to Emma, who stands with a shocked, sad, and silent expression, Isabella grabs her shoulder and pulls her out... The creaking of the door closes quietly behind them, filling the room with the sound of equipment.
Elizabeth sighs, placing both hands on her face, and before she knows it, tears are streaming down her palms.
"mom" she gasped.
For a moment, a heavy silence filled the room, just as Elizabeth was about to fall into the darkness of her thoughts, she felt something warm and soft sitting on her lap.
Slowly, she raised her head, now filled with tears, to find a completely black cat sitting and watching her with complete curiosity. " cat??" she muttered before trying to pet it.
The cat purred softly while her green eyes shining like gems gazed gently towards her, tilting her head as soon as Elizabeth touched her.
"Where did you come from?" the young girl asks, and without thinking, she pats and strokes the cat, spreading a warm feeling to her cold hands. Despite this, the cat does not complain but remains sitting calmly.
"Now I'm talking to a cat!! I think my situation is hopeless, huh?"
She finished, before a slight smile appeared on her face, before covering the cat with her in a blanket, saying, "Thank you for comforting me."
"My mother is gone," she whispers to the cat, tears falling from her eyes before she wipes them away with the sleeve of her shirt.
The cat buries its face in Elizabeth's lap, who smiles even more, before a gruff voice from the television intervenes...it sounds like a news broadcast.
And so she raises her head, and the voice of a broadcaster appears clearly this time in a dry tone: "This is your local news bulletin. We have been informed of new information regarding the case of the accused, James, who killed his wife... Stay tuned for more."
Elizabeth slowly raised an eyebrow; this had completely captured her attention , she leaned her head against the wall to watch.
The broadcaster continues, saying from the other side, "It has been confirmed that the death of Mr. James, the accused, was a suicide, and this is from his autopsy report... Also, some writings were found in his diary in his cell, which appear to have been written before his death, containing a picture of his wife, Mary Kat."
`` My love, if my heart ever turned away from loving you... I would tear it out... and give you another heart, my darling.
Why did you do this to me?
My heart has been lost since you entered my life.
I suffer every day because of what my hands have done to you.
Perhaps this is the punishment I deserve," the announcer reads.
"She was young!. How could he kill her so brutally?... Isn't that strange, Kitty?"
Elizabeth says, while straightening her back as she sits, " but when she looks down , the cat is gone ...
"Where did it suddenly go?' she says, her eyes searching around... under the bed, here and there, but it's as if the cat has turned to dust.
Then it seems that voices outside the room have become clear, and the voice of her shocked aunt is shouting at the doctor, shouting, "What do you mean that my sister bled internally?! Where is that despicable doctor who treated her?!"
Elizabeth listened intently, moving towards the door before opening it to find her aunt gripping the doctor's collar tightly, with madness in her eyes, while Emma tried to calm her down, saying, "CALM DOWN, Auntie, please."
"NO , HOW CAN I CALM DOWN? WHERE IS THAT BASTARD JEFFREY?" Isabella screams in a voice that shakes the whole place, before many footsteps approach them all.
It is Jack, with Clara behind him, who steps towards Isabella, holding her hand and pulling her towards him, saying, "Calm down... there is no one in this hospital named Jeffrey in the first place," speaking with a calm, steady face.
At that moment, everyone's gaze, including Henry's, who was sitting in the last corridor, curled up in himself, turned towards him.
