Tara Sutton's eyes went wide as she shot back, "Can you watch what you're saying? I invited Josen! If he leaves, how could I possibly keep having fun? Wouldn't that be repaying kindness with malice? Besides, my cousin hasn't even said anything. Who are you to talk?"
Shawn Hawthorne's jaw tightened. "Suit yourself."
Nina Donovan's eyes darkened, and she was instantly wary. 'This Josen might sound polite, but if you listen closely, all he's doing is sowing discord. He's a real pro at this.'
And Tara Sutton, that sweet, naive airhead, was treating Josen exceptionally well because he had saved her life.
It wasn't romantic; she just saw him as her savior and treated him like a guest of honor.
'If this keeps up,' Nina Donovan thought, 'sooner or later I'm going to be completely sidelined by Tara.'
'I look away from Tara for just one month, and someone's already trying to raid my home turf.'
