"Rest assured, I won't touch that female while you're away," the South Beast City Lord said before strolling away.
Lan Qi stood in the darkness, his expression grim. A moment later, he couldn't stop himself from clapping a hand over his mouth and gagging.
A Pearl Bird Beastman flew in through the window. He shifted into his human form, stood before Lan Qi, and silently offered him a stone bowl filled with water.
Lan Qi took the bowl, gulped down all the water, and then tossed the bowl straight out the window.
Without a word, Lan Qi walked to the straw bed and lay down. He turned his head to gaze at the brilliant starry sky outside the window, feeling not a bit of sleepiness.
The Pearl Bird Beastman didn't leave. He changed back into his beast form and perched on the windowsill.
The two males were silent for a while before the Pearl Bird Beastman suddenly said, "It wasn't me."
"I know," Lan Qi said flatly.
