Su Yu was startled and looked in panic toward where the black claws had appeared. The surrounding space rippled, and a monster with a humanoid silhouette materialized before her.
The monster's entire body was covered in dense, black scales that glinted with a purple light. Its hair was made of black mist that drifted in the air, and its hands and feet were shaped like eagle talons. Its face, also covered in scales, had no eyes—only a mouth.
The monster tilted its head up to "look" at Earl Li. Its mouth split open in an exaggerated grin, revealing rows of sharp, tightly packed teeth. Its voice was hoarse and deep, tinged with surprise. "...Fallen One, you're actually still alive."
Earl Li frowned. With a powerful flick of his fishtail, he sent the monster flying and securely shielded Su Yu behind him.
