Chu Mu casually ruffled Wangcai's head. The skull, as hard as metal, offered no satisfying texture and even felt a bit rough against his hand.
"How about I make a den for you, little guy?"
Chu Mu mused for a moment, his words coming out like a casual question.
"WHIMPER WHIMPER..."
Wangcai whimpered twice, his tail stopped wagging, and he put on a look of utter reluctance.
"If you don't say anything, I'll take that as a yes."
Chu Mu paid him no mind, patting Wangcai's head again with a smile he couldn't quite suppress.
Wangcai grew even more anxious, circling Chu Mu ceaselessly and rubbing his head against the corner of Chu Mu's robes.
"Alright, you'll just hide in there when it's necessary. It's not like you'll be cooped up in there all the time."
Chu Mu gave him an exasperated kick. Wangcai took the blow but was clearly still unwilling, letting out two whimpers as if in protest.
