Ivy Holden asked Bill Holden, "Are you sure this is the door?"
"Probably. The houses here are built so haphazardly, it's really hard to tell them apart."
"Should we go in and take a look? Maybe we can help," Ivy Holden whispered. In reality, she was worried the three officers wouldn't find the child, then come back and try to pin the blame on them.
Of course, Jensen Morrison knew what Ivy was thinking, but he still said, "Let's wait. If we go in now and they accuse us of obstructing official business, it'll just cause more trouble." Ivy gave a resigned smile and shook her head.
A little over ten minutes later, the three officers emerged from the courtyard with two middle-aged women and a man of about fifty. There wasn't a single child with them.
"You didn't find the child?" Ivy Holden stepped forward to ask.
An officer named Lawson said, "What child? We searched the entire courtyard and didn't find anyone."
