Alaric Davenport watched as she walked away, lost in thought and deeply moved.
He had almost let his feelings show. Thinking back on the past two days, he realized their interactions had become quite frequent, though he hadn't consciously noticed it before.
Yet, he had readily accepted this new dynamic. Sometimes, he even took the initiative without thinking. To his surprise, he even found himself feeling a sense of anticipation.
In the end, however, his rationality pulled him back. He looked at his computer and moved the plan for starting the studio into the trash.
He was afraid of being ensnared by a woman, just like his father. He was supposed to hate all women, with the sole exception of his mother.
Back then, his mother's condition had worsened during her surgery, all because she'd become emotionally unstable after discovering his father had an illegitimate son.
His mother had been determined to die; otherwise, he would still have a mother today…
