Landon Hawthorne went to look for Aria Sterling after breakfast.
A housemaid answered the door. When she heard he was looking for Aria Sterling, she said, "Miss Sterling left early this morning."
"She's out?" Landon Hawthorne was puzzled. 'How can this woman be so mysterious, coming and going without a trace?'
Turning his head, Landon asked again, "What about the owner of this estate? I want to see him."
"He's out," the housemaid said matter-of-factly.
'After he fell unconscious last night, Aria Sterling didn't let him stay over and had someone send him away. And now, first thing in the morning, she's out with that old man again. This woman is really something else...'
The housemaid thought this Mr. Hawthorne looked quite handsome, but he seemed a bit slow on the uptake. "Yes, like I just said, Miss Sterling left early this morning."
"I'm asking about the old man!" Landon Hawthorne's temper flared, and his voice rose. "That old man named Shaw."
