There is something else Dan will gain from this process—something he had not initially planned for. It is understanding. A deep, comprehensive, and absolute understanding of the human brain. Every region, every function, every connection. It is not a theoretical understanding, but a direct, practical mastery. He will feel his brain from the inside, experience its inner workings, and know exactly how it operates with a precision that surpasses any doctor or researcher.
And this understanding... will open a door. A dark door.
He spread the leather parchment before him and began to write. Potential Secondary Uses - Brain Vitality Seal:
He paused. He looked at the words. "Secondary uses" sounded innocent enough. But what he was about to write... was not innocent at all. He continued.
1. Controlling Others.
The idea was simple yet terrifying. If he could send microscopic chakra threads into his own brain—the most sensitive and difficult to access—then he could certainly send them into the brains of others. The process would be much easier. He would not require absolute caution; the victim's brain would not matter much if it suffered minor damage.
The method? He would send fine chakra threads—thinner than what can be seen by the naked eye—to infiltrate the enemy's head. They would penetrate the skull through natural openings or even microscopic pores if the threads were thin enough. They would reach the brain and spread into the motor centers, the nervous system, and the physical control regions. Then... complete control.
The victim becomes a puppet. They move according to Dan's will. They walk, fight, kill, and do anything he commands. And if Dan wanted to dispose of them quietly? Without any external influence? It would be easy. Stop the heart. Sever the breathing. Disconnect the neural signals. Instant, silent death. The victim would feel no external intervention. They would see nothing. They would drop dead without any apparent cause. Since the threads are so thin and invisible, he could send them from a great distance, reaching up to kilometers away. A perfect killing technique. Terrifying. No evidence, no trace, no witnesses.
He wrote a note: The threads control the body only, not the consciousness. The brain is not what carries consciousness.
This was a conclusion he had reached from his previous experiments. The brain is a processing device, a control center. But consciousness? Self-awareness? That is something else. Something deeper. Perhaps linked to the soul, to spiritual energy. Therefore, control via the threads gives him full command of the body, but the victim remains conscious. Trapped within their own body, watching helplessly. Worse than death, perhaps.
But... this could also be solved. He wrote: Solution: Induce unconsciousness first. Sever signals to the regions responsible for perception. The victim sleeps, the body remains mobile. Like a living dead. A body that walks without awareness. Even more frightening.
Then another idea occurred to him. What if he merged this with Genjutsu? With illusions? Currently, his Genjutsu skills are basic. He can influence the mind slightly and create simple visual illusions. But if he developed the technique further... merging it with physical control via the threads... he could achieve absolute control. Body and consciousness. The victim does what Dan wants and believes they are doing it of their own free will. Absolute slavery. Without the slave ever realizing they are a slave.
He wrote: Future Development: Merge with Genjutsu → Complete control (body + consciousness).
He stopped. He looked at the words. This... was evil. Without a doubt. But it was also... powerful. Useful. What if he faced an enemy? Instead of fighting, he controls them. Turns them into an ally. Or at least, extracts information from them. What if he needed to infiltrate a fortified place? He controls one of the guards. He enters without resistance. The uses... were numerous.
But that was not all. Another idea, even darker, was born in his mind. He wrote slowly:
2. Controlling Corpses.
If he could control a living brain and nervous system... why not control a dead one? As long as the brain is not destroyed and the nervous system is still relatively intact, the body can be reanimated. It is not a resurrection. The corpse remains dead. No consciousness, no life. But it can be moved. Like a doll. He sends the threads, controls the muscles, and moves the limbs. The corpse stands, walks, and fights. An army of living dead. Like the undead necromancers in the fantasy worlds he read about in his previous life.
Terrifying. Disgusting. But... effective. Imagine a battle. His enemies kill his soldiers, thinking they have won. Then the corpses rise. They attack anew. The psychological horror alone would shatter the morale of any army.
He wrote: Requirements: A fresh corpse, relatively intact brain and nerves. The fresher the corpse, the easier the control. Constraints: The corpse will not be as strong as the living. Muscles stiffen, tendons lose flexibility. But for large numbers, it may be useful.
He stopped writing. He looked at what he had written. Controlling the living. Merging with Genjutsu. Controlling the dead. All of this... he had not imagined when he first thought of the Brain Vitality Seal technique. The goal had been simple: to improve his own brain. To increase his intelligence, speed, and abilities. But now, after deep reflection, he sees the other possibilities. The doors that will open.
In summary, this technique will grant him much more than he imagined. Not just personal power. But the ability to control, manipulate, and dominate. A power that transcends direct combat. A power that is... political? Strategic? He could control leaders, commanders, and important figures. He moves them as he pleases. He builds an empire from the shadows, with no one knowing he is the one in control. Or he builds an army of the dead, who feel no fear, need no food, and never tire.
The possibilities... are frightening. Even for him.
But one question remained hanging: Would he use these abilities? Dan is not a hero. He is not a person who is good by nature. He is selfish, practical, and does what serves his interest. But he is also not evil without reason. He does not kill for pleasure; he does not torture for amusement.
Controlling the living... is useful. But when will he need it? Rarely. Perhaps never, for he has reached a level of power where he sees no need to control anyone on this planet, at least for now. Controlling the dead... is interesting. But also disgusting. And practical only in great wars. Will he enter wars? He does not intend to. Isolation is the goal.
So... perhaps he will never use them. But he must know they are possible. He must develop them, master them, and keep them as a trump card. For emergencies. For the moment he might need them.
He wrote at the end of the page: Final Note: These abilities are possible. But their use is optional. Developing them is necessary for full understanding. Actual use... only as needed.
He closed the manuscript. It was a troubling subject. But it was realistic. Power without ethical limits is dangerous. Dan knows this. But he also knows the world is dangerous, and survival requires every possible tool. He will develop these abilities. He will master them. But using them? Only if he is forced to. At least, that is what he tells himself now.
He stood up and stretched. Enough dark thinking for today. Tomorrow, the actual work begins. The second phase of the Brain Vitality Seal. And in the end... a power that surpasses anything he imagined. For better or for worse. Even if it requires... a dark power.
