The Fifth Level of the Vitality Seal.
This stood as the most pivotal stage thus far—the most intricate, the most hazardous, and the most ambitious. In essence, the Vitality Seal governing the brain and nervous system, which Dan had recently completed with such success, served merely as the indispensable foundation upon which this fifth seal would be constructed. It was a preliminary necessity, a gateway that could not be bypassed.
The reason for this preparation lay in the staggering complexity of the Fifth Level. Its difficulty eclipsed all prior stages by a massive margin. Typically, a mature human vessel is composed of approximately thirty trillion cells. Thirty thousand billion individual units, all breathing, dividing, regenerating, and perishing within a single organism. It is a system of inconceivable sophistication.
The Fifth Level of the Vitality Seal targeted the cells themselves. Yes—every single cell. Each one of those thirty trillion. It was a mad objective, a goal so lofty it would be deemed impossible by any other. But not by him.
The First Vitality Seal targeted the bones and bone marrow, where blood is constantly forged. This system is fed by a continuous flow of healing Chakra, which is pumped throughout the anatomy via the beating heart. Every pulse distributes blood laden with restorative energy to every organ and tissue, extending the projected lifespan to approximately 180 years—a vast improvement over the standard sixty or seventy years of an ordinary human.
The Second Seal focused directly on the musculature. A precise array that nourished every muscle, from the largest to the most minute, with concentrated healing Chakra. This seal was tightly integrated with the first, creating a symbiotic relationship where they supported one another and exchanged energy. This boosted the body's overall efficacy, enhancing speed, strength, endurance, and recovery, while pushing the life expectancy to nearly 350 years—effectively doubling it once more.
The Third Seal was far more complex, targeting the delicate internal organs: the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, and digestive tract. It fortified their vital functions, prevented degradation, and repaired accumulated damage. This raised every health metric tangibly, extending the lifespan to roughly 700 years.
Then came the Fourth Seal, applied to the sensitive brain and the extensive nervous system. This elevated cognitive, sensory, and perceptive faculties to an unbelievable degree. It granted new heights of analytical speed, memory retention, and refined control, liberating the body from many biological constraints. It unlocked latent potentials and untapped energies, while simultaneously amplifying the effectiveness of the three previous seals. Because these seals were now managed by an enhanced, more efficient brain, they formed a self-reinforcing cycle of improvement. This surged the expected lifespan to 900 years—nearing a full millennium.
However, the most vital role of the Brain Seal for Dan personally—even more than the extension of his years—was the incredible leap in Chakra control it provided.
Before its application, Dan already possessed an advanced mastery, capable of directing Chakra at a microscopic, cellular level. Yet, even that level of mastery was insufficient for the Fifth Level. At his absolute peak before the Fourth Seal, he could manipulate hundreds of thousands of cells simultaneously through sheer concentration and gargantuan mental effort. Perhaps a million cells on his best day. By any standard, that was a staggering feat.
But his body contained thirty trillion cells. One million out of thirty trillion? A mere drop in a vast ocean. Attempting to apply the Fifth Level to every cell at that rate would have taken an impractical amount of time—a task he might not have finished even with a 900-year lifespan.
This was where the Brain Seal became the turning point. It elevated his simultaneous cellular control to a new echelon. Now, he could manage tens of millions of cells at once. Not hundreds of thousands, but tens of millions. A monumental leap. Furthermore, this capacity would only grow. As his brain and nervous system continued to be nourished and refined by the Fourth Seal, his simultaneous control would increase—hundreds of millions, perhaps billions in the future.
This was the true key to the Fifth Level.
The objective was clear: to create an exhaustive and complex network of minute seals linking every single cell in his body—all thirty trillion—with each other and with the four preceding Vitality Seals. Each cell would receive its share of pure, concentrated healing Chakra directly and perpetually. A total integration. A comprehensive system.
Upon final completion, this would grant him a surge of power that defied description. Even with his vast knowledge and analytical predictions, Dan could not pinpoint the exact level of strength he would attain. However, he was certain of the minimum threshold: he would ascend to a true cosmic level. A level where he could shatter entire planets with incidental strikes. The apex of the Otsutsuki elite.
Moreover, his lifespan would stretch to an incredible horizon. Not centuries, but millennia. Perhaps tens of thousands of years. A near-immortality that would outlast civilizations.
Dan gazed deeply at the research table before him, covered in dozens of scrolls, diagrams, and complex calculations. Every sketch and equation pertained to the Fifth Level. He reviewed every detail with surgical precision, checking and re-checking every probability. There was no room for error or improvisation. The planning had to be flawless and all-encompassing.
He had arrived at a critical juncture in his long pursuit of his ultimate goals. A turning point. A defining moment. The Fifth Level would change everything. it would place him in a different realm entirely—completely outside the human scope. It was everything he had striven for since the moment he arrived in this world.
