Chapter 113 - Chapter 113: A Balanced Resolution

Patriarch Hayato Uchiha spoke with a voice that was both resonant and resolute:

"Our course of action shall be thus: we will dispatch an official delegation to communicate with the Kingdom of the Blue Dragon. We shall extend an offer to purchase the mine from them at a price that is fair and acceptable."

He paused, clearly noting the shift in the expressions of the "Hawk" faction—the hardliners who favored immediate aggression. Among them was the youth seated directly behind him, whose brow furrowed with visible displeasure. To them, this decision appeared weak, a compromise they found difficult to swallow.

However, the Patriarch's tone sharpened, becoming even more decisive as he continued: "But... should they reject our equitable offer, we shall find ourselves compelled to seize it through direct force. We will not hesitate."

At this, the tension in the hardliners' faces ebbed. They seemed somewhat pacified by this strategic balance; at the very least, the path of the blade had not been discarded entirely.

One of the younger elders, the Eighth Elder, spoke up with a tinge of lingering anxiety: "But, venerable Patriarch, are we not risking the opening of a new front while we are already locked in a brutal struggle with the cursed Senju Clan? Is this wise given our current state?"

Hayato fell silent for a moment, weighing the gravity of the question. He responded with a tone of heavy sincerity: "In truth, I do not desire a direct confrontation. The ongoing war with the Senju is consuming us, draining our resources and our kin daily."

He stopped for a heartbeat, then lifted his chin, his features hardening with a palpable sense of ancestral pride. "But... who are we? We are the Uchiha! The strongest and most ancient clan in this land! Never forget that, and let it always be at the forefront of your mind when a decision is made."

A deep, reverent silence filled the hall as the members looked upon their Patriarch with admiration, bolstered by the pride of their heritage.

After lengthy discussions regarding the finer details, the assembly dispersed to attend to their duties. Only the Patriarch and the youth remained in the grand hall. Hayato turned to the boy, who had moved to sit before him, and asked: "If you were the Patriarch, Hiroshi, how would you have decided this matter?"

The youth replied with a confident voice, though he maintained clear respect for his father: "I would seize the mine by direct force, Father. Without hesitation or time-wasting negotiations."

Hayato observed his son in silence, contemplating the response. Personally, Hayato did not favor force as a first resort; his temperament aligned more with the "Doves"—the moderates who preferred diplomacy and dialogue before drawing steel. Yet, as the Patriarch responsible for the entire clan's survival, he had to maintain equilibrium. He could not allow his personal beliefs to overshadow the strategic interests of the Uchiha. He believed he had reached a middle ground that satisfied both sides—or so he hoped.

In his heart, he prayed the situation would not deteriorate. He truly wished to avoid a new war, especially since clandestine intelligence suggested the Kingdom of the Blue Dragon was far more formidable than it appeared. Whispers from reliable sources spoke of powerful "dragons" guarding and supporting the realm. While it sounded like mere legend, Hayato knew there was rarely such thick smoke without a real fire.

He looked at Hiroshi again and spoke firmly: "Hiroshi, you will accompany the diplomatic team tasked with delivering our official message to the Kingdom of the Blue Dragon."

Deep down, Hayato wished to temper his son's fiery and reckless nature. If Hiroshi were to ever be fit for the title of Patriarch, he had to learn that true leadership required balance and wisdom far more than raw strength.

Meanwhile, at the Walt family stronghold, Dan sat quietly, taking a brief reprieve from his intensive research. He watched with a relaxed gaze as his young twin daughters practiced their martial arts and swordsmanship under the tutelage of their eldest sister, Sophia.

Sophia was teaching them the correct path of combat. As the strongest among Dan's children in the art of manifested Chakra weaponry, she specialized in a unique style, wielding a long katana forged entirely from pure, condensed Chakra.

The twins each displayed a distinct approach. Sera fought with a broadsword of heavy, concentrated Chakra, while Nira utilized a long, slender spear of razor-sharp energy.

"Haaah!"

Sera let out a loud cry, launching a powerful jumping strike with her broadsword toward her elder sister. Sophia parried and neutralized the attack with her bare hand, not even bothering to manifest her weapon.

"Your attack is still unbalanced, you reckless little one," Sophia said in a teaching tone. "You must distribute your Chakra more effectively."

"Hah... hah... hah..." Sera panted, clearly exhausted by the effort. "I will improve, Sister Sophia! I promise!"

At that exact moment, Nira launched a silent, hidden strike from behind with her long spear, targeting Sophia's unguarded back. However, Sophia evaded it with startling grace without even turning around, as if she possessed eyes in the back of her head.

"And you as well, my silent little trickster!" Sophia said with a wide grin. She quickly caught Nira by her soft cheeks, pinching them with clear affection and playful tenderness.

Despite being identical twins, their personalities were polar opposites. Sera was impulsive, emotional, and socially vibrant—she loved to talk and express her feelings openly. Nira, by contrast, was silent, rarely speaking unless absolutely necessary; she was naturally reserved, preferring quietude and solitude.

However, their elder sisters never allowed Nira to drift into total isolation. They constantly teased her, included her in their activities, and showered her with the affection of a protective older sister. Every member of the large family understood the burden of the twins' gargantuan Spiritual Energy and its effect on their hypersensitivity, as Dan had explained the matter in detail. Consequently, the family treated them with extra care and gentleness, striving to provide a tranquil and loving environment.

Dan watched the warm scene before him, a genuine smile playing on his lips as a sense of deep warmth filled his heart.
