Hearing the word 'stray' again, Cheddar slowly moved his green gaze away from his milk pitcher.
He looked directly at Edward, his ears flattening slightly as he gave my father a remarkably sharp, highly judgmental expression that was so full of pure sass it practically made Edward shut up real quick.
My father actually blinked in shock, taking a half-step back as if he had just been threatened by a fluffy orange loaf.
Two of the guards looked at us, one of them pointed at Cheddar and stated, "Yes, I have found this cat a night before. He broke a pot while we were patrolling for the night."
Listening to him, Edward quickly recovered his pride and waved his hand frantically at the soldiers. "Well then what are you waiting for? Move forward!"
The two guards did not hesitate this time, and began to take another step toward my position.
