Ray POV
I went home after a full day of working my butt off in the office. There were many meetings and documents that got pushed back because I was busy taking care of Claudia for a few days.
I knew that prioritizing my work over Claudia was the logical thing to do. She was meant to be pastime entertainment for me—a kind of twisted fun to see a woman who had dumped me before despair right in front of my eyes.
Yet, I found it difficult to ignore her, and it was impossible to work when my mind kept on drifting to her, thinking of her situation, and worrying that she might get herself in trouble while I wasn't sticking by her side all the time.
Anok's presence gave me a little peace of mind, because despite our animosity, she was still part of my family, and she was as competent as one could get.
I was just a little worried that her influence over Claudia might turn the dainty woman into a female Rocky Balboa, like Anok herself.
