I wouldn't lie that I was caught off guard by Ray, who was acting spoiled on my lap. I froze on the spot, but not because I found it disgusting.
I just found it puzzling because he had never done this before… and also endearing.
It made me want to ruffle his meticulously styled hair and pinch his cheek just to tell him how cute he was. But he might get offended, so I decided to hold myself back.
On top of that, I knew that the wounds that he sustained must've been painful. I felt guilty for telling Godfrey Gatlin about the pet contract, but there was no other way because Ray claimed nonsense like we were together and would be married soon.
I shouldn't have come with him in the first place if things ended up just like this. But meeting Aurora was like the perfect bait that hooked me by the nose.
Ray stopped snuggling after a while, but continued to rest on my lap comfortably, and it didn't take long for him to actually fall asleep as I heard his light snore.
